Best time for less crowds

Planning another trip to WDW for 2003. When is the best time to go where it won't be to crowded?

We went Jan. 12-19 of this past year and found that until the very end of the week that there were almost no crowds. Most things were a walk on and we never waited more than 10 minutes for anything. It got a little more crowded as the week-end (MLK day) approached but never got bad. We love this time of year.

We've been to Disney twice during the 1st week in December and there have been waits of MAYBE 10 mins., at the most. It's a great time because Disney is decorated for Christmas and all the Christmas shows/parades are going on.

We've been to WDW at all different times except summer. Seems that the least crowded time is Jan or Feb. Down side is that it's usually cooler so we never get to do a lot of swimming then or go to a water park.

My kids enjoy the swimming sometimes more than the parks, so we usually go during warmer months now. 1st week of Dec. 2001 was very warm - unseasonable I was told. Decorations were up & it was beautiful. More crowded than we thought after 9-11, but much less crowded than peak seasons.

The lowest crowds we have seen was the only time that we went in January. While it can get cold then, when we were there, it was about 80 degrees each day.

We have also been a few times in November. Low crowds also. We love to go to the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. We are looking forward to going in early December sometime. From what I've heard, it is a great time to go!

Historically, the lowest crowds are January (after New Year's weekend), September and the first 2 weeks in December. The big difference is weather - September is still quite hot, and wet (it's still Hurricane season). January and December are VERY unpredictable - you can have highs in the 70s for a week and then suddenly it will plummet to 50 degrees with overnight lows in the 30s. But there's very little rain that time of year. October is a nice time to go, but it's become more crowded in recent years because it has the reputation of low crowds and perfect weather (plus that's now "convention season" in Orlando). November can be good, too, if you avoid Thanksgiving and the New Jersey teacher's holiday/super soap weekend.
