We are going to Universal for 3 days in Sept. and are hoping to tack on a day or two when we visit WDW in Nov. We are a family of 4, so I am considering 3 plain APs and 1 Preferred AP. That one preferred pass should take care of parking, purchases and meal discounts right? Everyone doesn't need a preferred pass to get discounts do they?
We are pretty frugal and eat mostly in the hotel. Do you think the savings are worth the difference in the pass prices? Right now, it's about $60.
Any thoughts?

On the US website there is a 5-day for the price of 2 offer listed right now. You have to purchase the ticket online but the unused days don't expire and it's good for both parks on the same day. The ticket price is $94.95 plus taxes, etc. total $103.13. You could get those and split the days between your two trips and just buy 1 pref. AP for pkg.,etc.

I just went on the US website, and the unused days do expire. The ticket is for 5 consecutive days of admission to both US & IOA.

The 5 for 2 tickets online at Universal are indeed only a 5 consecutive day pass.

They expire 4 days from the 1st date of activation (1st day + 4 more = 5days total)

I talked to them directly via phone and what doesn't expire about these tickets is the time between when you buy them and actually activate them. So you can buy them now (lock in price) and then don't use them until your trip.
