best things to buy offshore?

I like to try and get local items on vacation that you can't get at home. After reading a bunch of threads here's what I've found so far:

Tequila
Vanilla
Cuban cigars
Silver jewelry

Grand Cayman

Rum cakes!
Cuban cigars

Kino Sandals

Be sure to check the onboard liquor prices first, many have found them to be cheaper!

So, what is the story with Cuban Cigars? Can you bring them home or must they be smoked before you enter the US? My cousin asked me to bring him some, then said no, he didn't want me to get into trouble with customs. So are you all smoking these while cruising or bringing them home?

I bought silver in Cozumel, but only from the stores suggested in the shopping guide Disney provides. The folks were extremely nice in each shop and I was very happy with my purchases.

I also bought silver charms from the turtle farm gift shop in Grand Cayman because they looked okay and the price was good.

I'm going on the Western cruise so I've only been looking into those ports. If some one has suggestions for the Eastern ports I'll add those as well.

I noted the silver and liquor price issue!

From the one time I was in Mexico with friends, you cannot bring Cuban cigars into the US. They must be smoked prior to re-entering the country (or left onboard, I suppose. Some crew member might appreciate them).

pack them in your checked luggage and put the band in your wallet. Not that I have ever done this.
