Ok so our trip will be the first one as a family rather than a couple. David will be around 15 months at the time.

What have your youngsters loved?

Any specific tips?

We are staying at POP for 2 weeks and will only be doing the Disney Parks at a much more sedate pace than we did before!!

Also - is it easy enough to get food for that age group? (I'm new to all this and not entirely sure what he'll be eating by then but looking at the menus there doesn't look like there'll be that much that isn't 100% sugar or salt!!??

What DS Loved:
Pooh's Playful Spot (in Fantasyland)
Donald's Boat
Playground across from Mickey's House
Minnie's House
Water fountains at DTD and Epcot (anywhere water squirted from the ground and he could run/crawl and play)

DS was there at 13 months and 18 months. He was still crawling at 13 months, so the Pooh's Playful Spot was his favorite then. At 18 months, he loved all of these.

We take the parks at a slow pace too - DS lets us know when he's had enough. Plus, we take breaks in BabyCare as needed.

Food -for us, DS was eating "people food" by that time. I would feed him off my plate generally, and we were fine. Some of the things he ate there - cut up bits of cheeseburger, grilled chicken, grilled salmon, etc. Cut up grapes and apples were a favorite. Veggies are a bit harder, since they are generally not cooked enough for him. For breakfast, yogurt was always an easy thing to feed him, or eggs, cereal, etc. I always had cheerios with me - you can't seem to buy them anywhere at the parks, so if they are a favorite, make sure you bring enough. Otherwise, DS loves cereal bars, so I always have these with for an easy snack too.

Overall, it was an easy enough trip at 13 mo that I was back at 18 mo, and will be there again with DS at 20 mo. For us, the trip at 18 mo has been the most fun so far (he was also there at 6 and 8 months).

Good luck.

We go the end of December with my son (he'll be a week shy of 15 months). And we've been researching things to do with him. There really is quite a bit. And with the "Rider Swap" option, you and hubby can still go on the rides he's too little for.

Thanks guys, that sounds great! I think I'm going to find loads of stuff that I've never done at Disney - all the playparks and stuff.

I suspect I'm worrying about nothing foodwise because he's not at the stage of eating much normal food yet. Will bring some bits and pieces incase though wanting to trail as little as possible. We stayed at Disney a couple of years ago and could easily get fruit etc at breakfast or he'll be fine with the odd pancake and stuff. Woo hoo - can't wait!!

The little play areas were great with DS (20 months) this past trip. It really gave him a chance to burn off some energy as he rode in the stroller a lot around the parks.

Poohs Playful spot in MK
Boneyard in AK
Honey I shrunk the Kids in DHS

Don't worry about the food. There are many options for kids and at that age he'll probably be eating mostly off your plate anyway. You can do eggs or cereal and fruit for breakfast. There's lots of chicken at CS places and grilled cheese.

Hve fun planning!

My DS1 (13 mo) loved the fountains at downtown disney--the ones that he could run through and splash in. It seemed that this was his favorite. He also loved the characters--he had no fear of them and especially loved kissing the princesses!

Ditto what the pp said, my Ds LOVED all of the above too. He also loved Its a Small World, Finding Nemo, Dumbo. We were really surprised at how much he could do. We brought baby food for him (15 months) because he is a really picky eater. I was glad that I did. He ate a lot off our plates but some meals weren't things he liked so we always had an option. Also , its hard to get fruits and veggies in so the baby food helped. As well as when we were waiting for our food at TS restaurants. I also brought his puffs from home and his favorite sippy cups.

Echoing the pp's comments. Our DD's loved the above mentioned along with the many adventures of winnie the pooh ride, POTC (go figure) in MK, Journey into imagination and living with the land in Epcot (all the different colored fruits and veggies), and Festival of the Lion King at AK.

She didn't enjoy DHS at all so that might be something to keep in mind too.

My daughter and son made their first WDW trips at 16 mo. each. Their favorite things were the hotel pool and the ice machine at the hotel! Side - outside; ice - ice machine and pool where the three most heard words all during the trip! :rotfl:

But, she did love the above things too. :)

you could have saved a lot of $$ on park tix if you just pulled up a chair at the ice machines...you could have also taken them to the other similar fun attractions ( the washing machine and the hand dryer in the bathrooms):rotfl2:

Our son will be 20 months old when we go in two months...and I know that he will love going on the rides...I am sure your 15 month would like them too. They can go on a lot of rides (that don't have height restrictions). I know that we are going to test it out on one of the mild rides and see how he does before we take him on Pirates....or Buzz lightyear.

I think the play areas will be great...especially for a 15 month old..since at that age he will love to be able to stretch out and get that energy out..and it will be good for mommy to relax too :)

We are going to bring snacks in...but we bought the dining plan and will probably just use our "snack" items for things for him.
