For our up-comming vacation we have decided not to get the dining plan. We will only have one TS meal (Crystal Palace - b'fast, love having Main Street to ourselves!). Our plan is to have one unique CS per day - either lunch or dinner and have the rest of our meals in our villa.

So what are the best themed or unique CS in the world?

We have alot of fun at Cosmic Ray's, it can get crowded but Sonny Eclipse is alot of fun to watch and listen too:goodvibes

Well as far as theme goes, I think Cosmic Rays in MK is the best for CS.

We are partial to Restaurantosaurus in AK, basically because of the food (best burger). But it does have a cute little "dino-dig" motif going.

That would be it as for theming. I don't really think that there is as much with CS and theming as you would think.
We really choose a CS because of food. So Epcot is basically Sunshine Seasons for us, which is just a food court.
And at DHS you can't beat Starring Rolls sandwiches and cupcakes...but it is picnic tables outside for that.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

When it comes to a theme I agree that the best is Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe.

As for the best unique ones I would say it's Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney Marketplace and the Contempo Cafe at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

For theming, Pizza Planet at DHS is very cool, but the food, not so great. Cosmic Rays at MK is really nice and Flame Tree BBQ at AK.

For great theme how about Pizzafari at AK??? The walls and ceilings are painted beautifully with animals...A Nocturnal Room, an Upside down room and others...It's great!!! We had their pizzas and caeser salad and hot italian sandwich and they were all great!!!

Pizza Planet at HS is nice and the food is ok.

In MK, we like Caseys We like to get a table outside and listen to the piano player...who has been working there for over 25 years!!!

Flame Tree BBQ at AK is one of my favs. There are great tables tucked away that give you an amazing view of the water and Everest off in the distance. :)

For MK I like Pecos Bills or Cosmic Rays

For DHS I think the best theming is at Pizza Planet

Best CS theming...

I agree with many of the choices posted above, especially Cosmic Ray's, Tangierine Cafe, and Flame Tree BBQ.

However, I don't see Yakitori House in Epcot's Japan. Delicious food (try the Ginger Cake!) in a serene setting of beautifully landscaped gardens and a koi pond.

Sitting on the concrete bench surrounding the fountain and enjoying some food from Germany's Sommerfest is a real treat, too.

Agree with Cosmic Ray's and Yakitori House.

I also like the theming in Tortuga Tavern in MK, but it's only open seasonally.

Thanks for all the great replys, keep 'em comming!:thumbsup2

We also loved Flame Tree, Columbia Harbour, Caseys and Pizzafari.

Personally I don't care for Cosmic Rays (tomorrowland is my least favorite land). We went there 2 years ago based on rave reviews of the chicken/ribs combo and thought it was really bad! The chicken was dry and tough and the ribs were fatty, the mashed potatoes tasted like cardboard! YUCK!!

We really like the Mexican CS in Epcot and the Lotus Blossom Cafe in China.

Did anyone see the blog by Jack Spence awhile ago about Min & Bills in HS? Eventhough the menue is limited the back story is kind of cool, so we might just try it!

We haven't been to Pizza Planet yet either.

At the Magic Kingdom, Pinocchio Village Haus has murals depicting scenes from Pinocchio. Also, I like how you can sit at window tables overlooking the "It's a Small World" attraction there. At Columbia Harbor House, we always get a table upstairs, looking out over the Haunted Mansion. It is divinely calm and cool up there. Also, as others have said, Cosmic Ray's is so much fun! Sunny Eclipse is a hoot!

At Epcot, in the past, I enjoyed La Cantina. We liked sitting near the water, and we always liked the atmosphere in Mexico. This summer, if it is not too hot, I would like to try sitting outside near the garden at Yakatori House or the garden at Lotus Blossom. But it may be too hot in August. And I also want to try Kringla Bakeri for the first time! The outdoor seating is at least covered there, and the food is supposed to be great.

At Animal Kingdom, we like Flame Tree Barbecue, too. We haven't tried the outdoor seating yet, but I read that the areas behind the restaurant are great. Evidently, they are themed with animal carvings and you can sit near the courtyard or waterside on the lagoon with a view of Expedition Everest. Supposedly, they aren't too busy, because they are not visible from the main walkways. One article said that the pavilions give guests the sensation of being in a tropical forest.

At Hollywood Studios, we like the food at Starring Rolls best, but the atmosphere at Toy Story Pizza Planet is a lot of fun for my daughter. She loved the arcade style games. We sat outside the last time we were there, and we enjoyed that, even in August. But there is also seating upstairs, which might be nice to try.

I definitely plan to dine at Wolfgang Puck Express in Downtown Disney, too!

Hope this helps! I like the sound of your plan. It should be yummy! :goodvibes

Thanks!

We haven't tried Pinocchios yet, I think we may have to add it!

We ate at Flame Tree last December in the outdoor seating area near the water. It was beautiful, but kind of shadey. We had to look around a bit to find a table in the sunshine - it was freezing! I'm sure we will be looking for a table in the shade this time!

At Pizza Planet, do you have to pay for the arcade games? Knowing our DD it could end up costing more than a TS meal!:rotfl:

Where exactly in Norway is the Kringla Bakery, and do they only have sandwiches or do they offer any hot entrees?

MK - Columbia Harbour House or Pinocchios Village haus
AK - Pizzafari
DHS - Toy Story Piza Planet

I believe that the best counter meals in WDW are in World Showcase. You could find a decent to very good meal at most countries. I personally like Mexico's Cantina and the Fish and Chips from Great Britain. I have also stopped by China for a bite to eat. There are great snacks to be had as well. In MK I like the place near Pirates that sells tacos and taco salads.

You definitely have to pay for the video games. I wasn't all that crazy about Pizza Planet, to be honest. The theming was nice enough - based on the restaurant in Toy Story - but the pizza was ho hum and the games were really overpriced, in my opinion. With our DD's love of claw games, we were lucky to get out of there with any cash at all!

We loved Starring Rolls at DHS, but not much of a theme there. My kids also loved Cosmic Ray's and the piano player there.

Cosmic Rays in MK
Cantina de San Angel in Epcot
Flame Tree in AK
Pizza Planet in DHS

MK:
Adventureland: Pecos Bill,
Fantasyland: Pinnochio's,
Tomorrowland: Cosmic Ray's.

Epcot: The Electric Umbrella, good food nice place not really themed though.

AK: Pizzafari I hear is good never been but it's the same as Pizza Planet and I love Disney Pizza. Usually get window counter service and sit somewhere in AK either the areas by the lake which are gorgeous or in Africa by the dancers.

HS: Backlot Express which is basically just a pavilion the food is great. Piazza Planet is a LOT of fun and good pizza.

Are the claw games play till you win?
If not we would go broke!

Maybe we might skip this one! LOL!:rotfl:
