Our next Disney trip is nine long months away, but of course I have about eight Disney "To Do" lists going.

Basically, I'm on my own when it comes to planning, especially the restaurants. I make a reservation, we show up and usually everyone's happy. My husband has only made one request this time around: "I want to eat dinner in the Magic Kingdom, but no more Crystal Palace!" He loved watching the kids interact with Pooh and the gang, but he hated the food (We were there for a late dinner).

I've been reading about the Liberty Tree Tavern and it sounds good, but I thought I'd ask the experts. :goodvibes Thanks!

I've never done LTT, but I really loved Tonys Town Square on my last trip, last summer. The place is really beautiful on the inside and we had a table where you could look out onto Main St. We had a late lunch there and the parade went right by us. The food was very good - I mean, not authentic italian, but still good. I had a flatbread and the pistachio creme brulee - which I honestly loved loved loved. I would go back just for the creme brulee again.

We are going to lunch at Liberty Tree tavern for the 4th time this April.
We really like it. We love the break in the middle of the day, especially if it is hot. We get out of the sun. The atmosphere is a revolutionary America theme. The announce your last name and what state you hail from when they go to seat you.

I know they have a character dinner, it may be buffet, not sure.

The lunch menu is very good, including full entree (dinner type). My DH really likes the comfort food choices.

I have not been to Crystal Palace in a long time, but that was very nice also. Character for lunch and dinner.

Enjoy!!:cool1:

LTT no longer has their character dinner :( It is now just a family style "Thanksgiving" meal. I remember the food to be good, but now that the characters are gone from LTT, I prefer Tony's.

Ok..here's my two cents...

Cinderella's Royal Table - way overpriced, but of course great atmosphere....Cinderella does not visit the tables...and neither do the other characters...and I have not heard great reviews on the food

Liberty Tree Tavern - haven't eaten here...but reviews are so-so

Crystal Palace - my family loves loves loves CR..it's their favorite WDW restaurant.....I say give it another chance

Plaza Restaurant - I have heard the food is very good...and the prices are good. If paying OOP then I think it's the best value for a TS restaurant, but if on the DDP, I don't feel it's a good value for the TS credit..it's kinda like a CS, acting like a TS.

Tony's Town Square - have not found very many good reviews...and the food seems to be mediocre....

I've eaten at all of them multiple times, but don't really care for any of the TS restaurants at MK. Of the ones you listed Crystal Palace is the best. How about leaving MK for dinner and dining at one of the monorail resorts? GF Cafe is very good as is Kona, Citricos, Artist Point, and California Grill. They're only a monorail ride away.

my opinion:

CRT ---over priced
Crystal Palace---good for a buffet
Plaza-----menu doesn't thrill me at all
Tony's----I make a better sauce
LLT---dinner is boring, lunch is much better.

I rather hop on a boat or monorail and eat at one of the hotels. Ohanas, Kona, Grand Floridan Cafe, WCC.

I am looking forward to see what the new restaurant that they will be adding to Fantasyland...they need more options in MK.

lunch at LTT

but the real best choice is Kona or 'ohana at the Poly, a mere monorail trip away

If you're going to force me to eat a sit-down meal inside the gates of the Magic Kingdom, I'll probably choose Liberty Tree Tavern every time. It's not great by any stretch, but it's at least consistent.

If you're not going to force me to eat within the confines of the park walls, I will hop on a monorail and head to a resort to eat. Pretty much every restaurant at all of the monorail resorts (and Wilderness Lodge, for good measure) is better than anything inside of the Magic Kingdom.

LTT is great for lunch...We love the atmosphere and the menu items...Not so much for dinner any more...We miss the characers...The turkey dinner is okay but nothing great...You may want to consider if you like a simple turkey dinner...

Tonys food is very Olive Gardenish and not worth it for us...But we are picky about Italian food so we not be the best to judge...Atmosphere is cute but nothing great...

Plaza is a good meal...Nice menu and atmosphere...

CRT is not for everyone...But if you think you want to do it...You should!

Thank you for your honesty! :)

Thank you! I'm the Italian food snob in our house, so I don't think I would be happy at Tony's. My husband hates The Olive Garden, so I don't think he would be very happy either. Of course, my kids would eat egg noodles covered in ketchup if they had to ... They'd just be happy to be in the Magic Kingdom! ;)

Is this the Beauty and the Beast themed restaurant or is another new one coming, too?

It's like eating Thanksgiving dinner!

Thank you! This is excellent to know. My husband would eat a Thanksgiving-type meal every night of the week if he could. As long as there's a big heap of mashed potatoes on his plates, he's happy.

I like that! :goodvibes

This is what we many very well end up doing. Right now, it's between Liberty Tree Tavern and a monorail resort. Thank you!

We love to eat at Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. We get the earliest ADR available, usually 11:30, and then we ask to be placed in one of the back rooms. I like the Washington Room and the Franklin Room. The smaller space, quieter dining experience, and added ambiance really round out the meal.

If your hubby likes mashed potatoes, I suggest he order the Pot Roast which comes out cooked to perfection and nestled on a bed of creamy real mashed potatoes.

I am also a fan of the chowder and the declaration salad. My kids like the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake for dessert (Order it without the dry mickey head shaped sprinkles for a better texture).

While we love eating at several restaurants a boat ride or monorail ride away, we feel like you should really give the Liberty Tree a chance.

On days we eat there we have a very light breakfast so we can really enjoy eating the large portions of great food.
