As y'all know, I'm a foodie, so I wondered which table service restaurants people thought were best....??

I was going to post a poll, but it went wrong! So options are here:

The Chicago Steakhouse
The Rainforest Café
Annettes Diner
Café Mickey
King Ludwigs Castle
Planet Hollywood
Blue Lagoon
Auberge de Cendrillon
The Silver Spur Steakhouse
Walts- An American Restaurant
California Grill
The Manhattan
The Yacht Club

Walts Walts Walts!! :-)

Cafe Mickey a close 2nd as you can't really compare the 2!!

My favourite has to be California Grill. There was a reasonable choice on the menu there and the presentation of the food was amazing, as was the food in general. We had a good view over the park as the sun set which was great to watch.

The only downside was the price, although I felt it was well worth the money (even if I wasn't paying :lmao: )

Did you forget the blue lagoon on you list?

We ate at Walt's and Auberge de Cendrillon when we were there at the end of June. They were both very good, but we liked Walt's a little better. The food choices appealed to us more, the server spoke better English and we enjoyed the theming a little more. However I would throughly recommend both.

Sorry, I can't comment on the more expensive restaurants, as we have never eaten in them (other than Auberge de Cendrillon)

So, for me, it has to be MY Diner ;)

We're foodies too, but I don't think you can compare somewhere like Annettes with the California Grill - they are not aspiring to be in the same place or appeal to the same customer.

I love Annettes and want to eat there, preferably more than once, each time I go.

Planet Hollywood - dreadful.

Rainforest - great theming, huge portions

Auberge - on a different level, but gets customers it wouldn't otherwise get because of the princesses. The food is really excellent quality but is let down for me, when judging it as a high class of restaurant, by its lack of choice. By the time you've added all the extras though (like wine!) it is good value for the quality of food that you get.

Walts - perhaps I just had an off meal or made a bad choice but I didn't rate Walts that much. We weren't that hungry though, just going so we could be there at parade time so will definitely give it another chance.

Blue Lagoon - great setting, often poor service, food so awful last time that despite it having been DH's favourite restaurant we won't be going again

The Steakhouse- the brunch is gorgeous, and for table service I think they manage amazingly well considering how many covers they have to cope with. The menu is exactly right for the place. We are eating here again in October.

Cafe Mickey - again, not really to be compared with some of the others. Its main appeal is the characters, and the clue is in the name of the restaurant, it isn't aspiring to haute cuisine! Average food but good fun.

I haven't eaten at any of the others yet. DH wanted to try the California Grill in October so we've got the HB Premium vouchers and I'll report back!

I'd have to agree with you. Thought it was maybe just that we had an off meal, wasn't very impressed at all. Most of the food was luke warm and my chicken portion was very small, made up mostly of bone. OH enjoyed his steak, but the kids weren't impressed with their meals either. It was fantastic to watch the parade from the window and the service was great. Restaurant was beautiful too.

As its been said before I think its hard to compare, and I also havent eaten at all of them. But here are the ones i have:-

The Chicago Steakhouse-Loved it here, wonderful food and had brill service, love the theming- My bf says he had the best steak here and now insists that we go here every time we visit dlp

Café Mickey- One of my favs, food is lovely and of course its fun to be amongst the characters.

The Silver Spur Steakhouse- The theming is nice, the food was ok, but the service wasnt wonderful, wasnt as nice as the the steakhouse. Not sur ei would go again

Walts- An American Restaurant- Sadly i wasnt impressed, i was really looking forward to eating here- the food was ok but not wonderful, the restaurant is lovely but we were sat in a in what i felt was abit of an awkward place- too close to another table. I think i would try it again tho.

No votes for the Silver Spur?

I liked the look of it on our recent visit, and the menu looks great. Might give it a go next time round.

Although with such short days in January we will probably eat in the hotels and village in the evenings. Except for one meal in Walts.

I hope its open!!

The Silver Spur gave us a really nice meal in January last year. I just think that the CG was a better experience for me overall, although it's quite an expensive experience.

Yeah, I think we'll go to the CG one evening this time.

Although I don't like the lok of ANY of the starters on DLRPfoodguide. So I might be skippng them. (My food tastes aren't too classy!)

But the fish mains look lovely and the desserts ALL sound good!!

Is it easy to get a castle view there?

The menu on DLPfoodguide is rather out of date I think.

I had the melon and ham which was wonderful. There was plenty of both there and not too much lemon jelly. The basic sorbet that came with it was a bit odd, but was a nice touch.

I've had the pleasure of eating in every restaurant in DLP, as well as many in Disneyland and WDW (and around the globe). We are foodies, and DLP does ok.

For the very best, go to the California Grill (Disney's 4th best restaurant world wide and Paris's best). Great food, great wine list, great views, great service. Highly recommended.

Next fav is the Steakhouse in the Village - really good food and service at a fair price. After 8 meals there, I have not been disappointed.

Next is the Silver Spur - 12 meals here, all good quality, service (like all DLP park restaurants) is variable.

Then The Yacht Club at NBC - great steak and seafood options, good service.

Then Walt's - great setting, good food usually, service dramatically varies, but poor more often than not. The food and setting compensate.

Annette's - fun and good value (not great gastronomy but great junk food and sometimes fun entertaining service).

King Ludwigs - good food, great setting, fair prices, poor service.

For buffet's Plaza Gardens, Inventions (a great character buffet at the DLH including Lobster), and Le Grange (Tex Mex at Billy Bob's Saloon).

Rain Forest Cafe - good food, fun environment, poor service and expensive.

All the others are poor or have been ruined, quality suffering, dumbed down.

Blue Lagoon - 5 poor meals - cold, bad quality, friend got food poisoning, and have seen mice and rats in the dining area. Great setting, but you cannot pay me to eat there.

Auberge is ok quality, poor service and highly overpriced.

(Lamenting the loss of Manhatten Jazz Club and the Hunter's Grill - they used to be awesome, but not longer).

If willing to go off site, the restaurants in Val d Europe are great too - Indian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish, Steaks - just a short train journey (2 min) and much cheaper.

Yep, my chowder was best described as tepid, should have sent it back.

Torsie I didn't think any of the starters were to my taste either, but saw a pic of the goats cheese and asparagus salad and it looks out of this world.
I've been lucky enough to eat in many 4 and 5 star restaurants in London for work, and this is often the case. I remember once taking DH (then BF) to the Criterion when it was run by Marco Pierre White, and since I was actually paying we could only afford the set menu. So 3 choicesfor each course, DH confessed after he didn't actually want any of them. Then along came the best food he'd ever had in his life and he was converted.

Thanks Britchic, I must admit you are right.

Good food is good for a reason. My parents often take me to posh places and I was really worried before a meal we went to in Paris last year, even when the menu came out I was dubious, but it was one of the best meals I had last year.

It's jsut because I'm not a fan of red meat at all, or anythign like fois gras (sp?) etc, (parents are veggies so I've not gorn up with any meat except nuggets etc.) so I get quite nervous in meaty places.

But then we didn't get starters in Cafe Mickey as I just wasn't hungry, And after Walt's gourmet burger I ahd no room for dessert, and nobody minded, how can they when you're paying?

No I'm definitely not a fois gras fan. It's the only bit of Auberge's meal I don't like, but it's a very tiny part.
