Best strategy for tickets?

Hi,

I bought the special 4 day, 1 park per day tickets for use this summer. Now our trip has been destroyed by this Corona mess. What strategy is best to deal with this mess? Do I
A) Leave all tickets as is (I already linked to each ticket to a specific family member)
B) Link all tickets to myself (so that there is one larger sized credit that is easier to sort out later)
C) Link tickets to a generic 'no name' guest so that the tickets can be linked to whomever needed in rthe future

Thanks for your ideas!

I don't think it really matters to whom each ticket is linked, as long as you control those profiles. If you've already assigned a ticket to someone you don't control (i.e., grandparents with their own account), that person would need to re-assign the ticket back to you for you to "own" it. But if it's all your immediate family controlled through one account, it doesn't really matter.

Each ticket will be it's own credit. You can't combine all tickets into 1 lump credit. Each ticket can be upgraded and credited accordingly; this can be done separately or all at the same time.

Sorry your plans are impacted and enjoy your future visit!

Thanks LaneJudy, but it seems they ARE allowing me to combine all tickets into my name only. Technically it's not "one credit", but 4 ticket credits - each in my name. Since the tickets will all expire BEFORE I return to the parks, whether I get one credit, or 4 credits all in my name, I BELIEVE the effect would be the same - that the total value of all tickets woul be in my name for future use towards a new ticket(s), correct? I just regret the fact that these tickets will not be eligible for 60 fast pass window UNLESS I were to visit Guest relations in person BEFORE our next trip, and then redo all the tickets for a future use. A big mess for us in either case.

You can move all tickets to your name. But even if all 4 are listed under your name, you can't combine to put the full credit value towards 1 or 2 tickets. It will be 4 separate credits towards 4 upgraded tickets. If all are listed under your name, you would then need to re-assign the new tickets back to your family members. To me, moving the tickets around vs leaving them as currently assigned just creates a couple of extra steps. Unless you think your party may be different guests next visit.

Enjoy your vacation!

All tickets may be living under your name on your account, but they are still 4 individual tickets (even if they remain unassigned to someone else). If you decide to use the value of the tickets toward future tickets, it is still a 1:1 conversion (as in, you will have four tickets that can be converted to valid tickets, and the individual value of each ticket will be applied to one new ticket).

" If all are listed under your name, you would then need to re-assign the new tickets back to your family members" - Thanks, are you sure this is really possible? (That you said if all the tickets are assigned to my name, I can simply reassign the credits to any 4 names in the future I want)?

If so, then I would definitely want to reassign all tickets to my name since this would mean no risk and simply allow me to shift them to any future guests I name at a future time. he only downside would be that I will need to make an in-person trip to guest relations before the next trip. If I understand you correctly, this option gives me the maximum flexibility; If I DON'T reaasign all the tickets to my own name, then the tickets would be 'stuck' with only the guests they are currently assigned to

As long as tickets remain unused, you can reassign them as many times as you’d like. Unless you are afraid one of the current guests listed in your account is going to head to WDW and use the ticket and you want to maintain control of it, there is no need to reassign tickets now You can simply reassign them when you know how you want to use them. Or as PP suggested, make a dummy profile in your account and park the tickets there and then reassign when you are ready.

Actually, what I heard (and please someone tell me if this is correct please) is that since these are the new 'date specific' tickets, the names CAN be changed but ONLY before the date of use. After that, they will be stuck - forever attached to the name of the person assigned to even if they are unused. This is all very confusing.

To my knowledge, unused tickets are never "forever" attached to any individual. Partially used tickets, yes, but not wholly unused ones.

The confusion may be that once a ticket expires, you probably can't re-assign it until it has been upgraded. Expired tickets tend to "disappear" from MDE leaving you no ability to modify or re-assign. Once the ticket expires, you will need to call and ask to upgrade it so it is again "active" and then it should be able to be re-assigned.

Good luck!

If I have tickets that are now expiring dec 15 (my trip was cancelled) and we have rescheduled trip to June. (Not eligible for free dining because it was through DVC). my question is if my first stay is on June 26th and I look for fast passes for June 28 and then I can keep looking at days ahead before I choose my first day of use? Is this right?

My other question is we booked through wdw one night 6/26 to 6/27 just to have one day at beach club. Our old trip had 3 days at poly and 4 days at beach and now we couldn’t get any DVC for beach. Instead we have 2 days at BLT, 1 day Saratoga, and 4 days at poly. Not ideal or what we wanted but at least we got Something. Anyhow we booked one day at beach club before our long DVC split stays to at least get a day to be at beach club (my kids fav). However I dont know yet if i will have to work 6/26 and won’t know until June 1. So we have wdw stay June 26-June 27; and DVC stays from 6/27-7/3. My question is if we do fastpass on June 26 and we know we aren’t going to park to June 28; if I end up cancelling first night will it ruin my later fast passes? unless disney is still closed I have every intention of going to beach club. However on slim chance I need to change that then what happens? Also what if I have some fast pass in June and some in July and they close in June. What happens to fast pass?

This is an excellent point and actually happened to two tickets that were in my MDE account and then disappeared. OP, If you have tickets assigned in MDE that you think may expire before you use them, I highly recommend saving the ticket order number or receipt of purchase so, if you have to call ticketing to retrieve the tickets, they can easily find them with the ticket number.
