Best steak in MK or on the monorail?

We are heading to WDW in June, and will be there over my son’s 12th birthday. His favorite meal is filet mignon (kid has expensive tastes!), and I’m trying to figure out where to take him for a special birthday dinner that will have good filet. We will be at MK that day, so looking for something in MK or (more likely) on the monorail. Cost isn’t really a factor for this meal. Thanks!

Best on the Monorail - California Grill. Within Park? Don't do that .

But wait - there is more .

If you CAN? Consider Shula's (Dolphin) - perhaps by cab, though you can catch the bus at the MK for the Dolphin.
BEST Filet on site, sized for either a linebacker or a 12 year old . Special treat? Get the Shula's Molten Lava Cake for dessert .
No DDP at Shula's. They DO accept TIW.

Citricos steak at the GF is better than Ca Grill, however if you absolutely must eat in the park well then im not sure since Ive never had a good steak in MK . But if your splurging on steak, and gonna take an uber or taxi, lyft whatever these days, I say hit up the Bull and Bear at the Waldorf. It is his birthday after all and they have the best steak "on property". All my opinion of course.

I agree Citricos makes a good steak! But I just love that you can see fireworks from Narcoossee's and California Grill, and for a birthday, that might make the difference!

my son, who also loves filet, loves the one at the CA Grill. They served it for him twice now with their aged gouda mac and cheese, he was in HEAVEN. He loved this combo (it was not on the menu but they made it that way for him). They also served some herb butter to go on it since he asked for it unsauced at first, but they also brought some of the taramind bbq on the side and turns out he liked that too. They were extremely accommodating since he wanted the filet but none of the fancy stuff.

Also you can't beat the ambiance of CA Grill for a special meal. Also, you can walk there... so if transport is having any kind of an issue, it's only about a 10 minute walk from the MK.

I love the filet at Teppan Edo in Japan at EPCOT. That could be a really fun experience for him there.

On the monorail line: Cali Grill.

If you don't mind traveling to other resorts: Jiko has an awesome filet (at AKL Jambo)
I also know that Sanaa at AKV-Kidani has a thing to eat with an animal specialist. That might be fun.

California grille gets my vote. A few trips ago I went full pig mode on their steak lol. Had one while we waited for our table at the bar... ordered it again at the table... then had to get another post dinner lounging at the bar again lmao. It’s thar good. I tell myself it was my own experiment to test the kitchen’s ability to be consistent. Conclusion? They are.

I also recommend California Grill. It may not be quite the steak you'd get at the Swan & Dolphin's Shula's, but it's in your vicinity, and. . . dat view!

About how long should I plan for a dinner at Cali Grill? We are generally relatively quick eaters. I don’t want to rush the experience, but I also know my boys won’t want to spend TOO much time eating steak, rather than being in the parks! I was actually able to snag a reservation for his birthday at 5:10, so we won’t be staying for fireworks. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

If you aren't ordering appetizers and desserts then there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to get out of there within an hour. We were able to last Friday.

Another vote for Shula's. They will have the best steak (and the best lava cake) hands down. But for convenience and the ambiance, California Grill would be a second vote. But for moneys worth, and the best quality, oh my, please go to Shula's!!

At 5:10 it won't take more than an hour. I love to go when restaurants first open because crowds are at a minimum and server and kitchen efficiency are at a maximum. If you're just ordering entrees and not multiple courses, an hour is fine. I'd do 90 minutes if you add either apps or dessert. Those are both a bit on the high side too, could be a bit less... we did apps, entree, dessert at CA Grill right at 5pm in about 90 minutes. I have a kid on the spectrum, who is supremely concerned with how long things take so I tend to pay attention

I would plan two hours including travel time.

Just mentioning—you can go back and watch the MK fireworks from the outdoor Observation Deck. They let you in with your receipt.

I use to think CG steak was the best....until I tried Arist Point. OMG. Pure heaven. Its so good it almost brought tears to my eyes. And if money weren't an issue (those steaks arent cheap!), i'd order it multiple times like the poster above. Hilarious btw. Anyway, AP is a must-do every trip.

Sadly, CG has been very disappointing each time i've been there since the refurb. But I have to admit when I did order steak, it has always been good, and cooked to my liking. Plus the view from CG is amazing.

If you are looking only in the monorail/MK area, then one of the signature restaurants on the monorail--CA Grill, Narcoosee's, or Citricos. I would not go to any restaurant in MK for a quality filet (not even sure you can get a filet). Yachstman or Shula's perhaps have better steaks than anywhere else on property, but you'll have to Uber from MK.
