Does anyone have personal experience staying onsite with a family of six? DVC is not an option. Right now trying to decide between FtW Cabins and a Dolphin family room with connector. This shouldn’t be so hard, but Covid has me second guessing everything

6 of us. We got 2 rooms at music and had connecting rooms. It worked out well

I had considered FT wilderness as well, but I would urge you to go on You tube and view a video of the whole resort and see if it’s actually for you. Also you may need a golf cart if you prefer and that is a charge above and not that cheap per day

We haven't stayed at FW but have done the family suites at Dolphin and really enjoyed them. You will be able to get the extra evening magic hours because it is considered deluxe. Plus you can easily walk to 2 parks so that's another great pro. As another poster mentioned, FW is HUGE and the cabins are all spread out. You will need a golf cart which can really run up the price. The most cost effective option is 2 rooms at an all star but connecting is never guaranteed so you will be rolling the dice there.

We really like the suites at Swan/Dolphin - comfortable rooms, lots of space and great proximity to two parks. I love Ft. W but would only stay there if it weren't a park-heavy trip - transportation is a bit of a hassle there, IMHO.

We did the All Star family suite for our family of six. Having two bathrooms was the deciding factor for me!

2016: Family of six, kids 2-12yo, stayed at FW Cabins. LOVE. Yes, we rented a golf cart, and I swear it was the kids' fave ride, or at least a great way to start the morning. Very attractive to me in Covid times since you don't have to go through a lobby or hallway with other people's air. With young kids, it was nice to not worry what others could hear through the wall. Felt private, like we had a little home.

2020 (January, so Before Times): Same family, kids now 5-15yo. We stayed in two adjoining Little Mermaid rooms at AoA. Also LOVE. We use the dining plans, and the lack of meal options at FW was a weakness that AoA makes up for. Love their food court, from peanut-butter smoothies for breakfast to tasty vegan scramble for a late 10pm dinner. Easy to use our refillable mugs. Also has "motel" set up, so you're mostly outdoors when traveling the grounds. Loved the pool. Easy access to Skyliner was huge as we went several times to DHS, but sometimes got breakfast or dinner (and a FP ride) in at Epcot.
We finished the trip in a Club Level room for six at Boardwalk Inn. Recommended if you can afford it (and if CL is running--only rooms for six are CL at BWI, I think). Lovely view from balcony. Delicious food. Two beds and a sofa bed. Potable tap water, whereas AoA had disgusting tap water.
But two rooms at AoA meant two bathrooms, OTT decor the kids (and I) loved, and a way to separate squabblers from each other.

We once got upgraded to a Cars Suite. An awesome space for six. Private bedroom for Mom and Dad and room for 4 more, 2 on pull out couch and 2 on the pull down dining room table. And it has 2 bathrooms.
