Second the lagoon. Also around that time its starting to get cooler so people have already started to migrate away. You can just lounge on one of the chairs and take in the sunset. There's also a little walkway off to the left in the pictures above that some people like to walk to with some trees.
Adult hot tub is also a great place to take in the sunset. Unless you want to get up and drive to the lighthouse trail, which I’m not sure would either be open, or safe, or drive to the other side of the island, the sunrise isn’t really an option.

Actually, I just checked and evidently you can see the sunrise from Waikiki. https://wanderlustyle.com/best-hawaii-sunrise/
That’s a half hour drive at the most that time of the day and really not too bad.

You could potentially drive to Diamond Head, about 30 maybe 40 minutes away, but I’m not sure they let you walk up the path in the dark.

You can hike Diamond Head in the dark--I've done it twice, with the most recent being two weeks ago. The park opens at 6:00 HST. Be sure to bring a flashlight as the path is quite uneven. You are treated with beautiful views.

On property, the last lagoon, you can walk towards the boat harbor but you'll see it come above the hills of Makakilo along with a good view of fisherman fishing off the pier (other side). On island, Anywhere on the east side along the coast. Any beach will do. If you want a slightly elevated position, the Makapuu lighthouse is the safest since it is a paved hike. If you're spending a day off property, Kailua Beach Park or even Lanikai would be a sweet spot! Best place to view the sunrise in the State, Haleakala. You can google search each spot to find out what it looks like and choose for yourself. Neat thing about going to the east side (east of Kahala), you can see the Island of Molokai and Maui (some times). =)
