We’re going to get up early one morning and try to find a sweet spot to watch the sun rise. Any recommendations on a quiet, picturesque spot?
Those sunsets are gorgeous. I imagine we will still be at the beach/pool every evening for sunset. Looking forward to this view. We've never done but I've heard the Pali Lookout or Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse Trail (far side of the island)
The lagoon behind the resort is our favorite for sunset

Adult hot tub is also a great place to take in the sunset. Unless you want to get up and drive to the lighthouse trail, which I’m not sure would either be open, or safe, or drive to the other side of the island, the sunrise isn’t really an option. We’re going to get up early one morning and try to find a sweet spot to watch the sun rise. Gotcha. I didn’t realize how far we would have to drive to get to the other side of the island in the morning. We’re newbies. Still learning.Adult hot tub is also a great place to take in the sunset. Ooh thanks for the link! We might be able to do ones of those.Since Aulani is on the leeward side, I'm guessing you're looking for spots beyond Aulani? maybe a tour might work? I found this: https://www.hawaiiphotographytours.com/blog/waikiki-sunrise
You could potentially drive to Diamond Head, about 30 maybe 40 minutes away, but I’m not sure they let you walk up the path in the dark.Gotcha. I didn’t realize how far we would have to drive to get to the other side of the island in the morning. We’re newbies. Still learning.

That’s a half hour drive at the most that time of the day and really not too bad.
And be in a great position to grab some malasadas and be at Diamond Head as soon as it opens! You could potentially drive to Diamond Head, about 30 maybe 40 minutes away, but I’m not sure they let you walk up the path in the dark.

You can hike Diamond Head in the dark--I've done it twice, with the most recent being two weeks ago. The park opens at 6:00 HST. Be sure to bring a flashlight as the path is quite uneven. Anything I can do with my hi-tech satellite imagery.Thank you!
On property, the last lagoon, you can walk towards the boat harbor but you'll see it come above the hills of Makakilo along with a good view of fisherman fishing off the pier (other side). On island, Anywhere on the east side along the coast. Any beach will do. If you want a slightly elevated position, the Makapuu lighthouse is the safest since it is a paved hike. If you're spending a day off property, Kailua Beach Park or even Lanikai would be a sweet spot! Best place to view the sunrise in the State, Haleakala. You can google search each spot to find out what it looks like and choose for yourself. Neat thing about going to the east side (east of Kahala), you can see the Island of Molokai and Maui (some times). =)We’re going to get up early one morning and try to find a sweet spot to watch the sun rise.
