Best Sony Point & Shoot?

Hi all - DH has built up quite a few Reward credits at Harrah's, so I have the opportunity to get a new camera for "free" (well...other than all the money he probably lost building those credits up ) on Saturday. The thing is, I'm limited to current Sony models. I'm hoping some you might have Cybershot cameras that you love, and would be willing to tell me about. I'm looking for something 8-10MP, small enough to fit in my pocket, that has a flash that doesn't take a year and a half to reset like my current camera does.

Anybody have any suggestions for me?

It is 8.1 mp and 10x optical zoom AND I LOVE THIS CAMERA! It is point and shoot but is sligtly bigger because of the zoom capability. It still fits nicely in my purse or in a medium camera bag. It retails for approx. $299.

I upgraded from the Sony DSC-P92 (which I also loved) because my girls are getting older and more active w/ sports&activites and needed a better zoom. I think Sony makes an extremely high quality camera and I have been very pleased w/ both!

The thing I love most about my new camera other than the zoom is the sports setting. It's great for taking fast motion shots! I've taken pictures of my girls tubing at 40 mph and if their hair wasn't blowing you wouldn't know they were moving at all. They are perfectly clear!

There are over 30 different settings like twilight, sports, landscape, fireworks(which I can't wait to test out at Disney!) etc. which is nice but it's still very simple to use, which is what I need! Most often I just put it on auto mode and let it do it's job! I'm not a technically saavy person but I do take and average of 40-80 pictures a month.

I just don't think you can go wrong w/ a high quality camera like Sony, so choose one that has the features you are looking for. I will say though if you have kids the 10x zoom is AWESOME!

I completely agree with the above post. I have always been a Canon owner and this is my first Sony. I love it! It is especially good for kids sports.

Wow - thank you for all that great information. I hadn't even put the DSC-H10 on my list because I thought I wanted a pocket camera. Now, looking closely at this one, it seems like it's pretty fabulous - I love the 10x optical zoom! I have a 4 1/2 year old son, and the sports settings on this camera would come in handy in the near future. Question though, how long does it take for a flash picture. My current camera seems to take forever from the time I push the button til the time it actually takes the shot...

Cnet can give you more accurate info but I can say that it is much faster than the 3 Canon Elphs we own. If you get one of the high speed memory cards there is less time delay between pictures.

Hi! I have a Sony Cyber-shot 12.1 megapixels and I really love my camera! It has a lot of different settings, and pretty easy to use! I love that I can blow up my pictures really big and they are still crystal clear! I would definetly recommend this camera!

I honestly don't notice any delay at all unless the battery is getting really low.
