I think I want to invest in some good socks to wear while touring the parks. I hate when my feet get hot & sweaty. Has anybody tried Under Armour or CoolMax? Do you have a favorite brand that works well? Thanks!

SmartWool. I love them! You can get varying amounts of cushion, and my feet are always happy when they're in SmartWools. Winter, summer, spring or fall -- they're always perfect!:cool1:

The best socks I have EVER come across for walking in the parks are called "Wright Socks." They are used by runners to prevent blisters and they are amazing.

The socks are a double layer of thin breathable material. This allows the layers to slide against each other instead of your foot rubbing against the shoe.

We went to WDW in mid July and my feet were fine.

I've had really good luck with Thorlo Thin Cushion Running socks with Coolmax, Women’s (NOT Walking).

I bought them at the local Dick's Sporting Goods store.

When I went back for more, the store only sold a unisex version. I was a little leery of that, because I thought I might get blisters if they don't fit properly. So I ordered online from thorlo.com

I only wear them at WDW, so I keep them in my Owner's Locker.

Before our last trip I had picked up some new moisture wicking socks. These socks are thinner than the socks I use when running - my thought was I wanted thinner moisture wicking socks in FL in the heat & humidity.

I started the week wearing my usual socks (thin, not moisture wicking) and did fine for the few days of our week long trip, but then I noticed that I had 2 or 3 small blisters starting to form. It dawned on me that I was not wearing the moisture wicking socks I had bought. I tried the thin, moisture wicking socks, but that didn't seem to help much.

I decided to try the socks I wear when I run. When we got back to our room that evening - my blisters were gone!! I was shocked to say the least. I finished the week wearing the thicker moisture wicking socks and I didn't see any signs of blisters the rest of the week.

I have found that I like the Nike socks for running. Regardless of that, I suggest finding a brand that fits well, and to go with a thicker sock. Not necessarily super thick and something comfy!

Good luck!

I usually wear anything Heat Gear by Under Armour when I'm working out. The socks are breathable but not really moisture wicking. My feet don't sweat too bad so that works fine for me but I'm not sure if moisture wicking socks or breathable ones would be better.

Hanes makes moisture wicking socks called All Day Dry. They are thinner on the top and have a nice cushion on the bottom. I buy a new package before each trip and really like them.

I wore Thorlo's last June and had no problems. I read about them here first, then bought a few pairs at Sports Authority. I don't think there was any moisture wicking in those socks but I didn't find perspiration an issue, while wearing them.

The key is to look for ones with as little cotton as possible. Nylon and Spandex should be the main materials. Also looks for ones that say "Running" socks.

For years, I thought I couldn't find shoes that didn't leave blisters on my heels. Then a runner told me about running socks. Why it took almost 30 years for someone to tell me this I don't know. I now only wear running socks with my tennis shoes. Haven't had a blister since.

I got several pairs of Under Armour (lower than ankle) socks for my trip to the Galapagos Islands (think equator heat and humidity). I wore them under my Merrell hiking shoes and absolutely loved them! I am not a big sock person, but they are so comfy. They are thicker and feel padded. I did lots of hiking over lava boulders, through mud, and it was muggy! Never got a blister or anything. They are now my go-to socks when I have to wear something.

I purchased mine at Dick's and checked out all the major brands. I am allergic to wool, and they just did not seem right for a trip to the equator.

Wrightsock. It is a sock inside a sock that will keep your feet dry and cool.
The shoes make a difference as well.

I wear medipeds diabetic socks even though I don't have diabetes because they are wider than the socks I used to wear

I've worn Thorlo socks for years, about $11 a pair but 100% worth it. They are hard to find though, I can only find them at the Walking Store and a few Dicks carry them.

I used to get blisters all the time on hot summer days that I would do a lot of walking. Then I started wearing them on day I would be visiting a park. Never have had a blister since then.

for smartwool socks. I wore them at disney and ran a triathalon in them. They are wool but not the least bit hot. Your feet will stay dry and comfortable and they offer just the righ amount of padding.
