Best Snacks

Oooooohhhhh.....apples with peanut butter! Yum. One of my all-time favorite snacks. I wonder if you can get them without the caramel. Or maybe the caramel comes in its own little container that I can ignore?? I love to munch on baby carrots too. I love those little snack packs they sell in the grocery store!

The apples were sliced and in a small cup type container, each container had either pnut butter or caramel but it was in a sealed container itself. So, if you didn't want the pnut butter or caramel you wouldn't have to eat it. :) These were similar to the snack packs you can get at grocery stores, I was impressed.

Did you say STRAWBERRIES with CHOCOLATE???? Is it dipping chocolate???
I love strawberries and chocolate!!!! Can't wait!!! I have my list...strawberries with chocolate, churros, pineapple spear, Dole Whip, fruit tart, cinnamon roll, etc. Just roll me toward the gate at closing time. I am feeling like the blueberry girl on Willy Wonka!

Yes, it was a little container of chocolate. We will just call you Violet instead of Naomi! LOL :)

We have never tried strawberry shortcake. Nowhere in Australia seems to sell them. I know they used to sell it in the park- any idea if I can taste some nearby DL when we visit in April. My kids don't even realize its actually food - they think it's the name of a cartoon character...lol

Oh yes, strawberry shortcake is very easy to make. :) And very good....loved my strawberry shortcake dolls when I was a kid. I actually still have them! LOL Strawberry Shortcake and Raspberry Tart, they sit on my dresser in my bedroom. :)

Anyone know where I can get a apple pie carmel apple? I read somewhere they will cut it for you too.

Yes, they will cut them at Pooh Corner, in the back of Critter Country where you exit Splash. :) We just had one a bit under 2 weeks ago. YUM!
You do have to ask them to please cut it but they are so much easier to eat when they are cut. :)

That sounds really good. Where did you see those?

Do you remember the Purple Pie Man of Porcupine Peak? He was the bad guy in the Strawberry Shortcake world. I had the Purple Pie Man doll and he sort of scared me. I would play with the doll but if he was put away in the closet, I had to make sure he wasn't in a position where he could look at me because he was pretty creepy.

I saw them in DCA. We ate at Award Weiners (OMG, the hot pork w/BBQ sauce was soooooo good) and I ran down the street towards the backlot and stopped at that little stand there and saw them. I wanted some tea to drink and they didn't have any at AW. :)

Yes, I remember the Purple Pie Man..will you laugh at me when I tell you we have some Strawberry Shortcake movies on DVD? LOL My girls really like to watch them. "I'm the Peculiar Purple Pie Man from Porcupine Peak" rat-a-tat-tat LOL

Yes! I remember that song! I used to sing it all the time when I was little after seeing the movies. I have to say that is probably the only thing I remember about the movies. I love that you included the "rat-a-tat-tat" part when quoting the Purple Pie Man. :rotfl:

Well, you really can't sing the song without the rat-a-tat-tat it's just not right. LOL

Oh my if you have never tried strawberry shortcake you must! It is delicious and it is sad they are no longer serving it at DLR. If it was available at plaza inn then I had it and it was amazing!!

Neighbors...welcome! We should have an oregon churro eating fest sometime....at DLR lol or costco since it's close.

IMHO Churros at DL are better than any other place I've had them!! (don't even THINK of comparing them to Costco's :crazy2: )

Dh loves the popcorn! My favorites tend to be bakery type items- haystacks, Tigger Tails. DS loves the tigger tails as well and Nestle icecream cookie. DD's favorite is the frozen lemonade.

:lmao: I know right?? But our local store here serves them up soft and warm and they are pretty good. Other costcos not so much....but this one, just this one. It sucks DL charges 3 dollars each!! Yikes!! :crazy2:

All this talk of churros....I went to Jack in the Box for lunch yesterday, they now have churros so I tried them....ya, not as good as DL but not bad. I'd get them again, they have 5 small ones for a buck. :)

Part of that churro allure is that you are in DL while eating it so it just has to be the yummiest one ever!!

Has anyone tried the chimichangas(sp) at DL? I saw one in dec but never got to try it. Also, which is better....the hot dogs or corn dogs at DCA?

Those are yummy but...different. Not bad for a buck.

Hmmm, hot dog or corn dog. Well, if it's a plain hot dog I'd go with the corn dog but I had a hot link that was covered in sauteed onions (which I normally can't stand) and BBQ sauce, if I had to chose I'd definitely go with the BBQ hot link! YUM!!!! And you are right of course, the churro yumminess is definitely added to while they consumed in DL. :)

Exactly, yummy but not DL yummy. I'd eat them again, especially for a buck and when I'm needing a churro fix. lol

I save all my "snack-getting" for Disneyland. I never buy that stuff anywhere else. At least at Disneyland I walk it all off and I allow myself to eat whatever I want. Back home, it is reality time. :rotfl:

I second that motion! DLR is all about carefree childlike fun!!:dancer: I worry about calories everyday, in DL I worry about nothing.:)

I tried the bacon-wrapped asparagus once (because I love me some bacon) but it only really tasted like charred nothingness.

There's sooo much good food at DL. The restaurant reviews/food porn thread reminded me that I have yet to make the baked potato soup (from Carnation Cafe) that I have the recipe for (it was absurdly yummy). Another must-have for me is a treat from Pooh's Corner. Their cookies are soft and chewy and oh-so-delicious and they have an amazing variety of caramel apples.

Since you love bacon, do you love the bacon around DLR in general (well, not the bacon-wrapped asparagus, but at other places)? At the character meals, the bacon is SO good. I don't know what they do to it, but it must be dunked in the same 'magic machine' they they dunk all of their wonderful fruit in because that bacon is delicious - and addictive. I never eat bacon at home (not because I don't like it, but because I like it too much!), and yet, when I get to Goofy's Kitchen, I pile it on the plate like I am storing it for winter! It is SOOOOO tasty. If I recall, the bacon at Storytellers Cafe was great too. I used to chuckle when my friend in Las Vegas would tell me that Las Vegas had some of the best bacon around, because I couldn't envision bacon tasting better in one place over another. But when I eat it at DLR, I think that their bacon tastes way better than stuff I have eaten at other places in Los Angeles.
