Best Signature Restaurant?

Our second night of our trip this year (New Year's Day) is DH's B-day. He wants to try a signature restaurant. We normally have avoided these because I'm not sure I want to take kids, I'm not a fan of the dress code, and it's expensive for five people.

DH liked the sound of lobster at Narcoosee, but some of the reviews are not great, and he would be the only one to eat lobster. I am wondering what everyone thinks would be the best choice for this splurge.

The best? I guess the best would be to hire a babysitting service for the kids so the two of you can go to Victoria and Albert's. We haven't treated ourselves to that restaurant yet but it is inarguably the best dining experience that Disney has to offer.

If you want to take the whole family, California Grill might be a good option. The menu offers many excellent options, the food well-prepared, and the kids will enjoy seeing the Magic Kingdom from that vantage point.

Citricos and Cali Grill are our top 2 signatures..they food is just amazing. Dh had the lobster tail at Narcoossees and enjoyed it but his filet wasnt great and I didnt care for my meal at al...the appies and desserts were great but that was about it

V&A was just fantastic. Definitely the best if you want to go that route. I suspect Cali Grill will get a lot of votes here - we are finally going in Sept.

As far as other sigs, I wouldn't recommend Artist Pt as the best. That's the only other one we've been to I think.

Citrico's and Flying Fish also seem to be 2 popular choices.

If you plan on it being just you and DH, go for V&A's or maybe the Chef's Wine Tasting Dinner at Flying Fish. If you are looking to take the kids with you I would go with either Flying Fish, Cali. Grill or Narcoossees since they tend to be the louder of the signature restaurants and it seems you are worried about how your kids will react.

V&A is definitely the best place at WDW for dinner.

We also like to get kids' care at one of the clubs and do adult dinners at the Swan/Dolphin restauarants.

We take the kids to all of the WDW dining plan signatures except Citricos (it just wouldn't interest them). If you are wanting a signature and taking your children, Flying Fish is my favorite.

I would do yatchman if you are taking the kids. My girls loved it and specially liked the color the puzzle desert. they were happy campers the entire time. The Poterhouse and Filet are very good.

Are you on a dining plan? Of the seven included on the plan, I rank them in the following order;

Citricos
Jiko
Flying Fish
California Grill
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Brown Derby
Artist Point
Narcoossees

We are on the dining plan. Thanks for the rankings. I've always wanted to eat at Jiko - guess I just like the name! But DH didn't seem as interested. He's having a hard time getting past the $58 steamed lobster! Does Flying Fish serve lobster?

Once in awhile they'll have a lobster app, but I don't think I've ever seen lobster on their menu.

You forgot HBD and Le Cellier
I did forget Brown Derby, I edited my OP. Le Cellier I don't really think of as a signature restaurant, especially since it wasn't signature the last time I ate there, and it's signature at dinner only, not lunch, which is the meal I usually eat there.

I think Artist Point is the best signature. The atmosphere is tranquil and peaceful (I love the background music they play), and the food is innovative and often outstanding. I really loved the crab salad with cucumber mint sorbet and black sea salt, and the cedar plank salmon with artichoke and bacon-egg vinaigrette. For dessert, the fresh seasonal berry cobbler is amazing - they recently changed it back to the good recipe, and it's one of my favorite things in WDW.

My most recent signature ranking:

Artist Point
California Grill
Jiko
Yachtsman
Narcoossee's
Flying Fish
Le Cellier
Brown Derby
Citricos
