We are going early December with DD almost 6 and DS 2.5. I dont want to waste a lot of time doing shows and have read mixed reviews on some of them. Which are the best we should see. I first though Disney Jr Live but a friend told me it was awful that they fast passed it and they were so up close on the floor they could hardly see and plus its puppets not even Characters so I don't think we'll want to do that. Then I read that the Muppet one is way out dated? Should we maybe just do the little mermaid? Or none of them? Also is the great movie ride good for the kids my ages or will they be bored?

Just jumping in here, I'm curious about the responses. From what research I did, it sounded like for really young ones, HS might be a bust. So we decided to skip it on our upcoming trip since we'll be with just DH, me and DS (2.5). But it might have more to offer for your 6 year old. Aside from Fantasmic, which I don't think is good for little ones because it can be so intense, especially if you're up close, DH and I always felt it was our least favorite park.

Yea we are def skipping Fantasmic after hearing its a bit intense we'll do that when they are older. We are doing lunch at Hollywood and Vine which they both will love meeting the Disney Jr characters and I think maybe just walking around will be fun and doing Toy Story. I also though really want to see the lights at night!!

The 2.5 year old will probably enjoy disney jr. My 2 and 4 year olds have seen it three times, so it's a regular for us and I think it's worthwhile. The 6 year old will likely enjoy Lights Motor Action car stunt show. Personally, it's my favorite show there. Beauty and the Beast is a bit boring to me, but it's not bad. Indiana Jones is not a regular for us. The stunt parts are fun but it has lots of downtime parts that my kids don't sit still for.

you know your kids. we don't.
all i can tell you is what me and my family have always enjoyed from infants to seniors
-beauty and the beast live on stage
-voyage of the little mermaid
-muppet vision 3D

and the great movie ride has also always been a favorite for every age in my family.
i have always loved the montage at the end especially the gone with the wind part even when i was very little.

Of course it'll be different for everyone but for our family:

DD6 and DD2 loved Beauty and the Beast
DD2 and DD1 loved Playhouse Disney (DD6 tolerated it)
All 3 enjoyed The Little Mermaid
DD6 liked Indiana Jones

We don't do Fantasmic because DD6 is afraid of fireworks and we just don't stay at the parks that late because we'd rather our kids get a good sleep so we can hit rope drop.
They haven't seen Lights, Motors, Action because DH and I saw it on our honeymoon and decided once was enough :p

I find Disney Jr to be a little painful (as an adult)... but if your kids like Jake / Doc / Sophia you should definitely go because they will love it. If you are unsure, you can probably check youtube for a video of it.

There are rumors that the Frozen singalong will be extended so you are probably going to want to see that show as well.

Muppet Vision is fun for me because I loved watching the muppets as a kid. I think if you are nostalgic than you will enjoy it.

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid can be pretty scary for little kids. My daughter totally freaked out during it but LOVED Fantasmic. So just be aware...

Beauty and the Beast is ok if you are a fan of the movie. The other two - I would probably skip with kids.

As for the great movie ride - my daughter is almost three and I am going to skip it. I like it but I think she will find it boring - its pretty long and she isn't in to movies (other than Disney cartoons!)

For us, HS is not a park I really commit a full day to with kids - its a good park for a long afternoon nap / rest. I really like it at Xmas to see the lights. My next trip the only reason we are going is so that my daughter can meet Jake & Doc at Hollywood and Vine.

We took my DS(2.5) and DS(1) to the Lights, Action show and DS(2.5) loved it. He LOVES the Cars and Planes movies and the show has McQueen in it. So if your little one is obsessed with cars, that show is worth seeing. The Movie Ride has a scene from Alien in it which is pretty scary. Luckily my guys both fell asleep on the ride and missed that. This year we will do the Disney Jr show because I think they will like it. And we'll try the Little Mermaid.

My kids loved Disney Jr when they were smaller. We all enjoy the Stunt show and the Muppets is a must do for us. With 2 boys, we've never checked ou the Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast show.
