I have found for myself personally that a pair of Keen's (i.e. Newport H2's) are the most comfortable shoes for a long trip to DW. They have the comfort and support of a good sneaker, while having the breath-ability of a sandal.
I just ordered several pairs of Crocs last week for my May trip! I got Capris, Malindi, Crocband flats, Crocband wedge sandals, and the Off Road crocs! I also got 2 pairs of Teva flip flops to try (here's to hoping!), and my doctor just told me today that I need to try out a new pair of New Balance 1012's. They're a kick in the seat of the pants b/c they are priced between $122-200! Oh well! I just got my cortisone shot, and had my foot wrapped, so hopefully by the time I get there my feet will be A-OK! REALLY don't want to do Disney in a wheelchair if I can help it! Too bad I am gonna have to check a bag b/c of all the shoes I will need!
For those of you who are Keen fans...what style do you like the best?
Ok, so I just bought two pairs of Teva mush flip flops. They are the wedge ones, and I am not super comfy in them. I was just wondering if it takes you some time to break them in? I keep waiting for them to mush like the name implies, and they aren't! I have a hard time breaking in shoes b/c of my PF. I've been having my girls wear them around the house for me in hopes of getting them to loosen up a bit. Are yours usually stiff at first? With foot problems, definitely a good pair of broken in tennis shoes. Our family used to be Croc wearers, but have since discovered Teva flip flops. They are the *best (for us) to wear at the parks. We go for usually 9 nights and live in these. Unlike most flip flops, they conform to your foot and are so cushy. The 'strap' in between your toes is also a soft fabric, so no rubbing. We each usually take a few pairs.
Agree, agree, agree! My doctor told me that my feet are difficult unfortunately. He totally said what you are saying. He confirmed for me what I've been saying for years. I've been saying it feels like I am walking right on my bones, and he says I am! So, what's comfortable for me won't be for someone who has differently shaped feet than me! I think it's great that we can all give ideas to other people who maybe haven't heard of certain brands though. The answer to this question is:
D, All of the above...
or maybe its:
D, None of the above...
Seriously, only your feet can tell you which are the best shoes. Given the huge difference in how feet are shaped, how much weight they are supporting, and how people walk, there isn't any single answer.
Best advice is to try on several pair of shoes and go with what is most comfortable to you. Then wear them often before you go so that they are well broken in.
And bring more than one pair so that you can rotate them on the trip.
How do YOU break in your Tevas?New Balance running shoes or cross trainers. Teva sandals that are broken in. Last year DS wore his Keen sandals that were broken in; however, with the miles and miles of walking he developed a blister and was MISERABLE.
Thanx so much for this! I was able to find the other number that he had suggested for me, which I couldn't find anywhere. He wrote down 1065, and I found 1064, so I am assuming he was off by a number. Anyway, when I did my searches I couldn't find anything even close to the price you found! Then I decided to look on ebay since I had the new number-which is actually better for my shape foot than the 1012's were-and found them REALLY cheap! Thank you so much for guiding me in the right direction! You can get the New Balance 1012's alot cheaper on line. They're only $86.97 at Kelly's Running Warehouse or Holabirdsports:
