foot problems! Uggh Im so irritated. Back in Jan. I started going to this aerobic/cardio pump class. Last week I started having heel pain. Never had it before. Of course leave it to me to get a problem with my foot when Disney is 2 months away:sad2: Im actually going to go to the doc about it.
Anyway I want to wear flip flops, not a fan of socks and shoes. Im wondering which one would be best. Im thinking I may have Plantar Fasciitis or heel spurs. Ive been eyeing the Teva Mush or maybe Reef as Ive heard they have good arch support.

Any of you have feet problem and any suggestions?

Hi - I've read on many other posts that those that have plantar fascitis love the Crocs RX - go to the crocs website and click on "medical". You'll see a variety of crocs like 4 or 5 different ones. The second one from the left on that page is meant for people with plantar fascitis.

I have plantar fascitis and had surgery for Morton's Neuroma plus I broken my foot a couple times along my 5th metatarsol. So I have a few foot problems. I feel your pain! New Balance shoes are made for my problems, plus they have an insole you can buy specifically for plantar fascitis and morton's neuroma. May not be or thing, but the settling for shoes may be a worth enjoying your WDW trip. I also swear by Merrells. I bring both NB and Merrells to WDW and can go all day long, I do use a foot cream at night too. My advice is stay clear of flip flops, the constant snap to your heel will just increase the sensitivity. I have a pair of crocs but they just don't cut it for me, and in warmer weather they really make your feet sweat.

well Im headed to the doc tomorrow. Its weird because it has all of a sudden happened. I lived in Hawaii for that past 2 1/2 years and lived (seriously wore closed toed shoes like a handful of times) in flip flops and NEVER had a problem. Now that Im wearing shoes to the gym its flaired up:confused3
Its not constant either, if I rest it for a few days its ok but then when I go back to the gym it flips out on me. My dh had plantar fasciitis and they made him custom insoles, they helped alot.

Im so paraniod of it ruining our trip. Hopefully the doc can help and in the mean time I'll check out the recommendations, thanks!

I felt the exact same way last year with our trip - I was having so much foot pain before our trip and I didn't want to ruin our trip! I wasn't able to see a foot doctor until after, and even then, I found out that I had to wear recommended inserts gradually to help (wearing them more fatigued my feet, which is common). It is not a short process/quick fix.

So, I bought Crocs RX and wore those most of our trip. I don't like how my feet move around in the shoes (too loose), but I wore socks and used Body Glide, which helped, and the foot beds are heaven. Even now, if my feet hurt, I just walk around the house in those, and I feel so much better. Yes, it was ugly, but my feet were happy. I've since bought some Crocs sandals, and I love the foot beds (mmmm).

I'll wear Crocs, NB shoes with inserts, or these Dansko sandals that I found next time (or some combination). I actually hiked in these Dansko sandals and other than a little rubbing (fixed with some Bodyglide, which will also help with Crocs - get some!), they were great.

Bodygilde can be found online at drugstore.com and at running stores, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc.

Good luck!

I have PF and LOVE my Mephisto flip flops. I buy the ones with the cork footbed like berki's. The footbed is thicker though so they are much better on my feet.

OY! I am with the rest of the group with foot problems... I had massive pain from PF a few years ago --- and have found since then as long as I wear good shoes/sandals, I have NO issues whatsoever. I haven't felt the heel pain in at least two years... but I had to give up high heels, etc.

My go-to sandal is the Chaco --- it has tremendous arch support and the quality of the footbed is amazing. I have a pair that are 7 years old, and they just recently wore thin enough on the sole that I had to give them up (I could have the soles replaced tho!). They have NEVER smelled - even after creeks and streams. Chaco also makes a flip-flop, but I find the sizing on them to be tough to order online (run narrow, and I have a narrow foot).

I also wear Birkenstocks - in fact, I am almost never barefoot, and wear Birki House Clogs as my house shoe in the winter - regular Arizon birks for summer. Papillio makes an EVA flip flop that is pretty darn good --- it does have an arch, but I can't wear them day after day at Disney - they just don't have what it takes. The downside of all the cork Birks is that they can't take the water at ALL.

I wear Dansko clogs/Mary janes to work and such --- they have a great footbed and a ton of support.

I have a pair of Keen Briggs shoes - the ones with the duck-looking toe box. They are fantastic - I love being able to spread out my toes. For me, I haven't found any of their sandals to be supportive enough.

Chaco also makes closed shoes --- I actually have on Chaco Redrock today in Bean... and boy, I love these shoes. They are more sporty and look more current than a lot of shoes.

I used to wear New Balance sneakers, and I know there are a ton of people who love them - they don't work for me. I got a pair of Asics and really love them.

I also have some crocs Mary Janes --- I can't wear them all day, but they are great for quick trips. They don't have a ton of support, and I understand other crocs do much better (the ones made for professionals).

I had to let go wearing cheap, flat shoes, any kind of heel... but being able to walk and walk and walk is so worth it. But, it does stink to pay $30+ for FLIP FLOPS.

The biggie for me was stretching... I started doing downward facing dog pose and really stretching the tendons on the bottom of my feet and my calf muscles. My version of PF stemmed from having over-shortened calf muscles, (high heels and desk job) then I got inflammation at the point of contact between tendons on the bottom of my foot. It was ridiculously painful.

You should really be able to find something that will work for you tho --- hopefully you live in a big enough town to have shopping options. You can always try medical supply stores, any store called "walking" store... check out the websites of some of the suggested brands and see who's selling what near you... locally the only people that sell Chacos was a camping supply store, so you just never know!

I personally love Birkenstocks althought my last trip while I was pregnant with my daughter I did better with the Disney Crocs I bought in MK. I did get a pair of Keens last summer but haven't tried them walking as long as I would in Disney so I plan to bring those on our next trip and give them a try.

I usually have birks, but they haven't been cutting it recently. So I am looking at Keens now.

I suffer from PF that flares up when I do a lot of walking (like WDW). I try to remember to do the stretching exercises. I had physical therapy for it a few years ago...

I concur with the posters who have said Merrells, Danskos, and Keens are the best. I regularly wear these three brands because they all provide great support. Keen has a closed toe flip flop with great support that I wear in the evenings (for dinner, etc). However, the issue with flips (and crocs) is without heel support, you are constantly putting your feet into a position that doesn't allow those tendons in your foot to fully stretch. For a trip like WDW, you may want to find something with more heel support.

Also, I do take a pair of Crocs with me because once the PF pain kicks in...they do relieve the pain instantly. They aren't as good for your feet in the long run...they do help make it a more pleasant trip. I wear Crocs around the house (standing on my tile floor, etc).

So I went to the doc and yep its plantar fasciitis:sad1: I just ordered the Merrell Siren Sport so Im hoping they will help. I cant wait to try them out!

For me Its always Nike Airs, and only the Airs. Now I have to buy It a half size larger but my feet stay for the most part ok. Plus I change my shoes and socks half way through the day. What I am looking for Is a sandel thats comparable(i belive its the arch support)

Cole Hahn makes a sandal with a Nike Air sole that you can walk in all day. They're really comfortable but they are expensive.
