I need advice on the best viewing seats for the Alladin show in DCA. It will be 4 adults, 8yr old, 5yr old and 1.5yr old. What do you all think would be the best location? I also heard somewhere that there are no bathrooms in the theatre????? :confused3 any info would be much appreciated. :goodvibes

No, there are no bathrooms in the theatre. There are some nearby, though.

Some people will say the balcony so you can see the flying carpet, but that is such a small portion of the show, I don't think it's worth it. And if the theatre isn't full, it's not even an option.

We've seen it twice. The first time, we were on the very far left, maybe 3 rows back. My DD sat on the left aisle. The really cool part about that is when the parade came through, at least 2 people looked at her and showed her the treasures they were carrying. It was VERY cool!

The other thing about sitting way on the side is that you can see a tiny bit of what's going on backstage at certain times. I liked that part.

The last time we saw it, we were on the front row, just left of center. We really like being able to see the expressions of the faces of the actors and being right there in it. There is a little bit of audience interaction and we felt like Al could actually hear us. During the parade this time, one of the camel riders came up to my DDs and put the camels nose on her nose a couple of times. We LOVED the interaction.

However, if your little ones are likely to get freaked out by that kind of thing, then the front left side isn't the place for you. Especially when Jafar turns into a snake and then a genie - it's right there at the front left. In that case, I'd say the front right would be the place to be. Close enough to see w/o anyone getting too close.

On our visit this past October, we were seated in the uppermost levels (got there late) but even from there the view of the show was decent. (Pretty cool vantage point during the carpet scene) I can't say from personal experience, but the middle level would seem to be best as you are elevated a little higher than the stage level but not too far as to not see the actors faces.

And yes, there are NO restrooms in the theatre, something my 7yr old had to endure about 20 minutes into the performance (we both had to miss the final scene as he could not hold it any longer). Make sure everyone goes before the show (actually, before even getting in line) as you would hate to miss any of it.

IIRC, they did allow you to leave and re-enter if you needed to take the little ones to the restroom during the performance. But it would take you a good 10 minutes to leave, run down to the nearest restroom, do your business and return -missing a good chunk of the show.

I like to sit on the bottom floor in the front row of the back sections. This gets you a great view of everything plus you are close to some of the parade stuff and you get a decent view of the flying carpet AND there is no one sitting in front of you.

Thank you all for the advice and information, you all rock!

This is one thing we have never done with my mother in a wheelchair. Does anyone know what the seating for wheelchairs is like at Aladdin?

I've sat in this section before. The orchestra sections is separated by an aisle that goes parallel to the stage. The last row in the front section has spaces for wheelchairs with seats next to them. I thought it was a good area to see the show.

Those are the seats I suggest. 3rd or 4th row, and definitely a few seats in from the far left aisle.

:thumbsup2

Everyone and their dog rushes for the orchestra, so we went for the loge which gave us better seats than we'd have gotten down below.

We were told the upper-levels were best the first time for a good view of the flying carpet. We thought it was fine. Second time, we ended up in one of the first few rows. The kids were way more into it. Everything was right there, parade looked huge, carpet overhead was still cool enough. Next time I'd be looking to be on the floor in the middle of the action.

This is where we sat last time, and it was very cool. All the "animals" and dancers waved at us, and looked us right in the eye as they went by. My kids were thrilled!
