We have only gone to CM one time and they put us back in a small room off to the side. We were happy to be there but felt like we missed out on some things not being out in the main dining area? Any way to increase the chances of getting out of the 'hole' and into a better area this time when we go? Or just the luck of the draw?:confused3

I would say try and get an adr for an early dinner. They fill the main room first. So that would increase your chances.
And if all else fails, ask them when you check in if you can have a table in the main room. You may wait a bit longer, but if that is what you want go for it.

I don't know what is considered the main room---we were seated to the left as you go in, with windows facing Bay Lake. It seemed bigger then the other section that was above the buffet. I don't have any suggestions as to how to get a better seat because we just took what they gave us.

sometimes I prefer being in that back room, esp. at dinner. maybe it depends on the people back there with you as to the atmosphere....I've never asked to be seated in a certain area but I'm sure if you do, they will be as accommodating as possible.
