Best savannah view rooms at AKL?

Can anyone recommend which floors, rooms, savannahs, trails, etc. provide the best animal views at AKL? I've heard varying reports and, although I requested "best savannah view" when I made the reservation months ago, would like to be more specific if possible (it's our honeymoon so would like it to be as perfect as possible!) ... Also, what are the "people pens" I've heard about? Is there any way to tell in advance if you are going to be near them? Thanks in advance!

I believe the view most people consider to be best would be a middle floor on the Arusha Savannah. However I requested this and didn't get it. I'd suggest you don't get your hopes up about any particular view, that way you won't be disapointed if you don't get it. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is an amazing resort. Enjoy it regardless of what room you get.

I requested zebra trail w/ bunk beds but forgot to add the Arusha savanah view. Well, I was on the opposite side of the hallway, so had Uzima savanah view. Well, we were still very pleased with our view, even though we could see the infamous people pens that I heard so much negative comments about. I learned one thing about AKL, and that is there is no such thing as a bad savanah view! No matter where you are at, you will see animals! I'm sure you will have a great time there.
If I could recommend one thing, it would be to request 2nd or 3rd floor. We had 3rd floor (the same floor as the lobby) and loved not having to use the elevator to get to our room, and were just one floor away from the restaurants and pool area.

As for the people pens, they are an area next to the resort that has bamboo type fencing. Not sure why they call them people pens, since I never saw any people. The pens didn't bother us, since the animals really seemed to gravitate to the water hole right next to the pen.

We were a party of 3 rooms and were fortunate enough to have all of our rooms on 3rd floor Arusha savannah, zebra trail right off of the lobby, 3 in a row. It was a perfect location. We were staying at SSR and moved to AKL on the FRI and SAT portion. Two of us went over at 8 am when check in starts and checked in. Of course, the rooms weren't available but I think it helped us to get our requests. And, we were magical gatherings so that may have helped. We also did the MG safari which I don't see too much mention of but it was incredible.

We are going back in October and I am trying not to get my hopes up about room assignment. I don't think we can get as lucky again!

In agreement with others. 4th floor, Arusha, from about 4 to 10 doors down the hall, either trail.
