Best Route to Wilderness Lodge from......

the Florida Turnpike? Mapquest says to take the Turnpike all the way to I4 (coming in from the North) but this seems a bit out of the way.

I have taken 27 through Clermont to 192 before, but I thought I heard rumors of a new state road from the turnpike directly to 192 but the maps don't show it????

2nd question - do you have to go through the Magic Kingdom toll booths to get to Wilderness Lodge? Do you just pull up and tell them you're checking in?

Yes, there is a new road. It is referred to as the Western Way. There's an active thread about a speed trap on it.

Anyway, take that to the new WDW road that comes onto property near CSR. Then you will head toward the MK but as you guessed, just tell the attendant you are checking into WL. You will be given directions.

As you near the toll booth, go to the right hand side. The farthest right booth is for buses however.

The road off the Turnpike is state road 429. The road in Disney is called Western Way. Off 429 there is a clearly marked exit for Disney(onto WW), it will say Disney/Hartzog road. 429 is a toll road and I believe the cost is $1.00.

I wish Disney could get the name changed on the 429 as most folks are looking for "Western Way" not "Hartzog road". problem is if you miss the exit you will have to pay another dollar at Hwy 192 and come in to Disney from that direction. Rule of thumb for those reading this thread when coming into Disney Look for the signs on the Toll Road 429 that say "Disney/Hartzog road" then when leaving Disney to go home north look for "Western Way".

If you are coming in south from I-75 to the turnpike you will pay $2.50 toll at one plaza on the turnpike, then hit the 429 and south of Hwy 535 (hint: if you know the back way into Disney you only pay a 25 cent toll at 429 exit to Hwy 535) will be the $1.00 toll plaza, if you miss the Disney/Hartzog exit after that exit is the Toll plaza thats another $1.00 to get on to Hwy 192. They also are expanding the 429 to I-4 and that exit should be opeing late this year or early next year.
