Best Rooms (non-DVC!)

Hello,

All of the room number maps that I can find only list DVC room categories and they all seem pretty old, too. They have one section of the resort labeled "hotel" with no further detail.

In the past, I've stayed at Aulani as a non-DVC cash customer and I wasn't put into that part of the resort. I had a room in Ewa tower facing the luau, which all of the maps list as a DVC area. But I didn't have a DVC studio. It was a normal hotel room with a king bed and no kitchenette.

So... Does anyone have a more updated map that shows non-DVC rooms, too? Or advice for requesting the best views for non-DVC rooms? I looked at a few pages of the sticky thread, but again, it seems to be outdated and DVC focused.

Thanks!

So a few different points...
  1. There's not going to be an "updated" room map. DVC is a deeded real estate product and can't just change. The room mapping is pretty much set in stone.
  2. I don't think a mapping of non-DVC rooms is going to exist.
  3. If you're driving and parking your own car, the most convenient rooms are going to be Waianae Tower 3rd floor (no elevator needed for self-parking garage) or Waianae Tower 1st floor (no elevator needed for the pool). The best views are going to simply be the highest floor available. Don't make your room request overly complicated by requesting a ton of different things, it makes it less likely that the request will be honored.
  4. Your experience staying in an Ewa tower room with a king bed overlooking the luau shouldn't have been possible given #1. All DVC rooms are accounted for. This is a mystery and I'll be following along to see if anyone has an answer. The DVC development was chaotic and there was some horse-trading between DVC and the Hotel, which is why DVC "owns" 8 standard hotel rooms. I wonder if something similar happened where there's a one-off hotel room in an area of the resort where a DVC Studio "should" be.
