Please , I need help! My husband & I are going to stay at the Poly for our 15th Wedding Anniversary, October 2008. We honeymooned in Hawaii and with todays prices that is a bit out of reach!:scared1: The Poly is our faux Hawaii with a Disney twist! We will be without kids and want the best the poly has to offer. We are open to all suggestions to make this trip as memorable as our honeymoon. I know I can always count on my fellow DISers:thanks:

If it's in the budget, what about a MK view room. I can't think of anything more romantic than sitting on the balcony of a MK view room watching fireworks over the castle while sipping wine. That's what my DH and I will be doing in December.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Do I need to request a MK view? Or a certain building? I am going to mention that it is our anniversary but I hate it when I get on the phone & stumble asking for thing and have to call back a thousand times! lol!

MK View is a room category at the Polynesian.

From least to most expensive:

1. garden view
2. lagoon view
3. MK view
4. garden concierge
5. lagoon view concierge
6. suites

MK views are nice - if you book this, request UNOBSTRUCTED. Although I think that with a MK you are "almost" guaranteed that.

Well you book it as a MK view category room. You can request a certain building, but you are not gauranteed that they will grant it.

Thanks for the info everyone:goodvibes Does anyone know where I can view pics of rooms & views. Someone sent me a site for the BCV that included room numbers so I could request a specific room # - that was awesome!

The best site for the Poly (other than the Poly thread on these boards) is Tikiman's. For some reason though it is usually down at the end of the month. I think he is only allowed a certain number of hits per month. It is currently down, but should be up the first week of the month. I can PM you the link if you would like, b/c I don't think I can link it in a thread.

If you haven't seen it yet, here is a link to the one here:

If this will be for your anniversary why not make it extra special and try a Club Level Lagoon View. Besides all the services you would get you also get a view of Cinderella's Castle, which would make things extra special.

That sounds super. Do they only reserve that for honeymooners? I think I have some research to do:stir: ! What are the services that you get?

Before you arrive the Polynesian IPO Cast Members can make all your ADR's and arrange for anything else you need. At the Polynesian in the Hawaii Longhouse lounge you will get a continental breakfast, afternoon snacks, 5:00PM hors d'oeuvres, 8:00 PM desserts and there will be Cast Members working in the Hawaii Longhouse. So that means you can check-in right there and they will be there for anything else you would need like making last minute ADR's and etc.

We stayed in the Poly Concierge building Hawaii- it was awesome and really made you feel special. If you go to the lounge at night you can watch the fireworks from across the water while the music is somehow chimed in the lounge in tune with the fireworks. It was wonderful!

We honeymooned at the Polynesian in 1983. We're going back in September
(3 nights) for our 25th wedding anniversary and booked the Honeymoon suite. We didn't even consider it until the CM suggested it - I don't think it costs much more than lagoon view concierge. It has a king bed in the room with a view of the marina and has all of the concierge ammenities.

Congratulations on your anniversary!

I may be incorrect, but I do not believe any of the suites at the Polynesian are called the "Honeymoon Suite". Also, I suspect that the prices for the suites start at $1,000 plus per night, which even at today's rates is alot higher (at least to me) than LVC.

We just got back a few days ago from staying concierge at the Poly. We stayed in the Hawaii Longhouse, which is specifically for Concierge guests. You will have a special card to get into the building, no one who is staying in other buildings will be able to get in. There is an awesome lounge on the second floor with wonderful food and a realxing atmosphere. You can watch the fireworks across the lagoon from there with the music or wander down to the beach and view them from there with many others. We had a room on the second floor, Room 2501 which was right next to the lounge and in the same area as the elevators. Though the view was wonderful from the room, the noise was a big deterrant. Everyone coming into the 2nd floor up the elevatores is right outside your door and lots of screaming and loud conversations will keep me away from that room again. I would not request this room. It was NOISY! But any of the rooms on the second or third floor of the Hawaii Longhouse with a Lagoon view is awesome as long as they are down the hall a ways away from the lounge. There is always some noise in a Disney resort from the rooms upstairs or next door, but that is to be expected. And these rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor MK side may have a palm tree or bamboo obstructing some of the view.

One other thing to consider, the second floor room do NOT have balconies, the third floor rooms DO have a balcony and the ground floor rooms have a little patio. If you like sitting outside on balcony at all, go for the third floor Hawaii Longhouse lagoon view. It WILL cost you more, but it is worth it in the long run, depending on how much time you actually spend in the room. I have a disability that made it, so we spent only half days in the Parks and the rest in the room, so a view was CRUCIAL to me! I needed that little extra perk of a view and that is also why we took Room 2501 right next to the lounge, I could not walk far. Next trip I will have had disk replacement surgery (coming up July 2nd) and will request a 3rd floor room MK side of Hawaii Longhouse. The Platinum package is the only package that can pretty much guarantee you will get the room of your choice. It is always just a request, but the Platinum is a package that will give you what you want, but at a VERY HIGH price.

The Poly was nice. We just went down to the sand and watched the fireworks from there and it was so close to the lagoon from our room, it was 60 seconds to get there, literally. Next trip we would probably request 3501 or 3504, these are away from the lounge, on another floor altogether and have a great view of the lagoon and castle!!!

Note that the rooms are very dark, even with the drapes open it can be dim in them, due to all the greenery around the windows and depending upon the direction your window faces. The Hawaii Longhouse Lagoon/MK view is a north facing view which is why it was a little more dim light. I would imagine a south facing view may be a bit lighter.

The suites are in another building, Tonga Longhouse. They are also concierge and their room keys can access the Hawaii doors to use the lounge and enjoy all the amenities there. There are not many suites in that building we were told. That building is up next to the Great Ceremonial House and away from the beaches of the Lagoon, but a short walk. We went into the Tonga to visit our Platinum Package Co-ordinator, as his office was in that building. Everyone say hi to Jeff there, he is AWESOME and a true Disney hearted CM. We love him! He is so helpful and truly one of the best CMs ever.
I hope that helps some. You will love the Poly! I want to go back RIGHT NOW!

We will be going next yr again and have to make a difficult choice which resort to stay at. We like to give all the Deluxes a shot and we have done the Contemporary, the Yacht, Boardwalk and the Poly. Next yr may take us to Animal Kingdom Lodge, Grand Floridian or Wilderness.

We always do a split vacation by going for two weeks and staying at one resort each week. That way we get a taste of different resorts each trip. BUT, I have to say I want to go back to the Poly and am not sure I will try a new one next trip or I will want to do the Poly one of our weeks and try a new one the second week! LOL! The Poly has a way of drawing you back.:) It truly relaxed me and I enjoyed the lounge more than any of the others we have tried. They have the best food in the Concierge Lounge of any resort on property period!
Enjoy the Poly!

Hi Poly Pal - they made a "Honeymoon Room - King Kamehameha Club" from one of the suites in the Tonga Longhouse (I think that's the name of the longhouse - the one next to the Great Ceremonial House). That's what is listed on our reservation. We got one of the generic PIN codes that was sent after they send you the planning DVD and got the room for $531.00 per night/including tax. I thought that was a pretty good price!
