Hi, I'm visiting dlp for the first time on the 18th feb. Ive decided to go half board plus as I'm on a tight so makes it easier. I'm trying to decide on what restaurants to use vouchers on. Ive got 4 night vouchers, i keep looking at reviews on certain places and theres a lot of mixed reviews so getting confused. Thats why I've decided to ask all you lovely people who have more dlp experience. Thanks :-)

Two we always visit are Rest des Stars and Inventions but depending on what half board vouchers you have they may not cover the full value of Inventions.

Others we tried on our last trip and loved was Blue Lagoon and Walts.

Walts is must do :thumbsup2

Also enjoyed Blue Lagoon and Annette's.

Have a wee look at the restaurant review sticky to give you some ideas of menus and peoples opinions. :goodvibes

I've got half board plus

we went this year on 18th Feb had a brilliant time. The restaurant we loved the most was Cafe Mickey you can use your vouchers there. The character interacterion was fantastic they spent ages with the kids we had the set menu and the steak was very nice I also asked for water because the wine was expensive at 6E a glass and they brought us 2 large jugs and didnt charge kids meal inc drinks. Overall we were very impressed.

I have also eaten with my DD at Auberge's it was a birthday treat for her 4th birthday about 2 years ago it was very expensive but only me and her so wasnt too bad wouldnt like to eat there as a family would be alot:rotfl:
I really enjoyed the character interaction there too but the food wasnt to my liking but as a one of treat was lovely.

We are going again Oct half term and are eating at Cafe Micky, Cowboy Cookout and Auberge's again because on this trip DD will be 6 so will be another birthday treat:banana:

Will they accept plus vouchers off the bill price in dlh restaurants?

We had Inventions lunch a couple of weeks ago. Had to pay and extra €15 on top of our HB+ vouchers for the two of us.

Was well worth it. Delicious food. Lovely peaceful setting. We'd have done it every day!

All the Disney restaurants accept half-board vouchers and it tells you which ones on the vouchers. If the meal is more, you pay the difference between the face value of the vouchers and the cost of the meal.

They're not accepted at the non-Disney ones like Earl of Sandwich, McDonalds, Planet Hollywood, etc.

I suppose that it depends a lot on the kind of food you like and what experience you are after. Would you prefer table service or a buffet, or a combination? Do you want to meet characters? (Ahhhhh decisions, decisions - and one of my favourites!!)

I love Walts, Blue Lagoon, Inventions and The Steakhouse in the Village too. My DD loves Auberge and Cafe Mickey!

I think that the restaurant stickies all have up to date menus on them which should give you a good idea of what there is on offer.

Don't forget the hotel restaurants too. We really enjoyed our meals in The Beaver Creek Tavern at SL and also the Diner in HNY.

Happy planning! :goodvibes

Another vote for Inventions lunch, we had a lovely view from the castle from our table, went around 2pm so was quiet and excellent value for money as the food was by far the best we've eaten at DLP.

I also love Walts but we didn't get to go there this trip so our last meal there was in 2010. It was good though!

Hmmmm well I was planning on bit of both buffet and table. I'm going with a 4yr old and ex so variation will be best. I wanted to go Cafe mickey on day 5 which we will pay for before we leave for train. So will have the vouchers for 4 nights. Tempted on someday to have late lunches then maybe snacks in evening. I've got until feb to decide so probably change my mind quite a lot :-).

You can use the vouchers for the whole of your stay so you could use them for your cafe mickey lunch if you wanted to. We would also recommend Walts and the steakhouse in the village. For buffets we like the plaza but that would cost less than the value of your vouchers so that might be one to pay for.

Another thing to bear in mind is that it will be COLD in February! You may well find that you need to eat at least 3 times a day - to sit down in the warm if nothing else!! I couldn't believe how much more we ate in November than in June!! :rotfl:

That said, my DD will usually graze and eat all day long so I tend to chose the restaurants based on where I want to eat! You can always find something for them to eat in the buffets and she will happily munch the fab bread rolls you get everywhere too!

Changing your mind is part of the fun!! :goodvibes

Ok thanks there's so many choices so guess that means I will just have to keep coming back to dlp to try them all out. Steakhouse sounds good. I'm def more of a red meat girl so that will be good. My sons slightly picky but hoping in 8 months he will get better.

The only thing to bare in mind if ordering steak is they only do it rare or medium rare or so the waiter told us in December.

If you like sea food Inventions is a good one, although personally I'd go at lunch rather than in the evening - there's a considerable price difference between the two sitting and as far as I can tell the only difference between them is that lunch doesn't have characters.

We've had mixed experiences at Walts - both times the food was excellent but the service the second time was appalling, very slow and it really isn't a very child friendly place (oh and hubby got food poisoning from the crab which really put me off)

There's been a lot of bad reviews of Cafe Mickey recently but when we went last November it was awesome, lots of characters and interaction. If you've got a little one then it's a must but it can get very hectic and tbh I don't like we got our moneys worth as DS was too distracted by the characters to eat!

We had no problem getting meat cooked well done for the girls last week. :goodvibes I also asked for a medium steak but I would have said it was actually more well done too.

I've never had a problem either. Even when ordering burgers in Annette's:thumbsup2

That's fine I love rare steak. In restaurants in Torquay they never cook it right for my liking

Yeah that's trouble with reviews, everyone has different tastes and standards. I think with meals I will generally have them as late lunches as can't see my 4 year old waiting until evening as he eats at 5 latest at home. My choices at moment are cafe mickey, inventions, walts, steakhouse and plaza on last night. Might book tables before I leave
