Best restaurants for a couple with no kids

Hi everyone,

My boyfriend and I are taking a trip to Disney soon and we are so excited! This will be his first time at Disney and my third time.

The one thing I am a little overwhelmed with is figuring out what restaurants we should go to. Normally, we are pretty flexible and would just decide where to go right then and there. But from what I am reading online, it sounds like we should really make reservations in advance. With so many options to choose from, I'm hoping to get some advice!

Does anyone have any favorite restaurants they would recommend? Are there any places we should avoid? (Note: We don't necessarily need a completely kid-free dining experience, but would probably like to avoid kid-centered dinners or places that tend to be totally chaotic.)

My boyfriend and I are in the same exact situation (his first, my third, etc etc) that is too funny! Anyway, I would definitely make the reservations ahead of time. We booked dinner reservations at The Garden Grille in Epcot, The Wave in CR, Sci-fi Drive-in in Hollywood Studios and The Plaza in MK.

The only place I've ever eaten is the Garden Grille. It is cute and has lots of beautiful scenery as you rotate around. I've eaten there on both of my previous visits. Although it's considered character dining (Chip, Dale, and Pluto only) it is gorgeous and fun. Plus the price is decent- 31.99/person and that includes soft drinks. They also serve alcoholic drinks and it's all-you-can-eat family style served at the table. The Wave, Plaza, and Sci-fi are gambles because I've never actually eaten there but they've gotten pretty good reviews, seemed fun, and fit our budget. The Wave seems romantic and "adult", Sci-fi seems fun and unique, and Plaza is modern and cheap!

If you're looking for couple-y places I would try the California Grill, although a lot of families go there. The scenery is really beautiful & they also serve alcohol! Also, a ton of couples rave about Ohana and 1900 Park Fare, as well as Citrinos which is also located at GF (it's more upscale than 1900 Park Fare and without the characters). Check them out and see if they're what you're looking for.

My favorite thing to do is eat at the Bar. The full menu is available and you have no kids around you. Favorite bars are Tune Inn Lounge at Disney's Hollywood Studios and The bar at California Grill. Except for the most popular restaurants, You can find ressies for two depending on your time of year.

Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian - a wonderful "Adult" restaurant.

Most seating has a view of the Magic Kingdom. If you time your reservation right - you can watch the fireworks while dining or if you eat a bit earlier - after dinner - you can walk out to the boar launch area and watch from there.

There are only a few real adults-only type restaurants in all of WDW. That said . . .

At Epcot, the Japanese steak house Tappen Edo, is kind of like getting dinner and a show (without the price tag of Hoop-de-Doo, the Luau, etc.). DH introduced me to this type of restaurant 28 years ago!

We've seldom run into the under-5 crowd at The Rose & Crown Pub in the United Kingdom. But don't think it's a quiet place - the big "kids" can be pretty rowdy, too.

If your DBF has a good sense of humor, the Studios' Prime Time 50's Cafe is a favorite of our whole family (DS's 19, 16 and 13, DH and I). this is more of a family place than the others, but everybody's encouraged to be a kid here. The boys loved it when my DH was made to stand in the corner by our "Mom" for shooting his straw wrapper at one of the DS's. So did I!

Artist Point. There might be a few kids, but they tend to be well-behaved as it is most decidely more of an adult restaurant. The ambience both in the restaurant and outside on the WL grounds is quiet (relatively speaking to most Disney venues) and serene. The food is excellent with service to match. If you show up a bit early, they can usually seat you at a window if you ask and are willing to wait a few minutes. I've eaten there a half dozen times or more and always enjoyed it.
