Wondering what folks' thoughts were on the best table service for a kid's birthday. My eldest already decided on BOG for her birthday meal. My youngest changes her mind daily. My wife wants her to do the birthday meal at a non-buffet type dinner.

How old are the kids. Are you thinking of a character meal? If so, who are her favorite characters? What's her favorite food? Are you wanting to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner? Do they like Japanese cuisine? For a young princess, akershus always comes to mind, but there are other great options as well. You could eat in Cinderella's castle or add a fantasmic package at Hollywood & Vine. Not to mention, dinner shows like hop dee do review or Spirit of Aloha. If they would like to eat in an aquarium, there's coral reef. If you want a nicer meal there's a bunch of signature restaurants people can suggest.

What I'm trying to say is, best depends on what your daughter and dw like.

I would find out her favorite characters and just have it at that restaurant.

Now that " everyone and their grandmother" celebrates " everything and anything " at WDW , its pretty much a blanket celebration at all the restaurants.

Usually your waiter or a group of waiters sing Happy Birthday with a cupcake and candle.
Chef Mickeys used to give a placemat with the characters signatures, not sure if they still do that, but its a buffet restaurant.

CRT decorates the table with glitter and streamers.

When DD turned 3, we had her birthday at 1900 Park Fare. The waiter loved that we were there for DD's actual birthday. He arranged for Cinderella to bring over DD's cake and sing happy birthday.
It was definetly a Kodak moment because DD was decked out in all her Cinderella gear.

The family in the table next to ours asked if she could take pictures because she thought it was so cute.
That was over 6 years ago.
We havent gone for DD's birthday for a few years but I've never seen it since then just pretty much waiters and a cupcake.

Chef Mickey's is always a pretty good choice. If DD prefers princesses, then maybe do CRT or Akershus would be our choice.

I hope they have a great birthday dinner.

It depends on what she likes. We did DD's 9th birthday at California Grill. She likes good food and nice restaurants. I ordered a cake from Chef Brian at the Contemporary and we had a window table for firewrorks. She said, and I quote, "Best. Birthday. Ever!", but for some kids that would be ab absolute nightmara and they would prefer something that has more "kid food" and where they didn't have to sit still for 2 hours. It truly depends on the kid. If she likes foodie type places the I would say something like Cali Girll. Coral Reef would be nice, but a little more casual and the aquariums are amazing. Someone already mentioned the Norway meal if you want characters but not buffet.

When my youngest turned 1 we had dinner reservations at Whispering Canyon. My oldest (then 7) mentioned it to the server. We didn't think anything of it - she was turning 1! lol We just liked the restaurant. Well, after one of the Pony things with the kids, the server stands by our table and asks all the boys under the age of 10 to come up to him with "something - any ole thing" from their table. He then announces dd's birthday, the restaurant breaks out in song and he tells all the boys that they can now kiss the birthday girl and give her their "present". The look on some of the boys faces was great! The extra chair at our table (we're a party of 5 at a table for 6) was piled with the most random things. Some boys did kiss her head, some just left their "present" on the chair, and others turned tail and ran back to their table. The server then brought out ice cream dishes for the 3 girls.

It was so random, and so much fun. We laughed so hard, and my oldest (now almost 15) STILL talks about it, though neither of her sisters remember it at all. (They were turning 1 and almost 2)

Disclaimer - we haven't eaten at Whispering Canyon since 2007?2009? and the antics are never reliable. But choose a meal you'll enjoy whether or not something extra happens.

Right now the plan is BOG for our oldest if we can get in and CRT for our youngest. Thanks all for the input!

Great story BTW!
