Best restaurant option for Fantasmic pkg?

Hi, all! We're headed to WDW next month and were considering taking advantage of the Fantasmic dinner package. Which restaurant do you recommend for a large group (6 adults and 6 kids)?? I love going to Hollywood Brown Derby for lunch, but the dinner menu and prices seem a bit too high. How's H&V's buffet? Would that be a better option than Mama Melrose's? I've never been to either, but one family we're going with said they'd been to Mama Melrose's and that it was "fine." Not exactly a ringing endorsement, so I thought I'd ask everyone's opinions here... Any feedback as to restaurants, timing, how early to get to the show, where to sit, etc. would be much appreciated!

I would recommend H&V for a family that big. While Mama Melrose's is good, I really don't think everyone would find something that they were crazy about. I always prefer buffets with a large group. Good luck!

We like Mama Melrose's very much but for a large party you might want to go with H&V. More selection and you save a few $. If you get a chance, try Mama's sometime!

I'm about to book H&V, but I just wondered if anyone had anything to add... Also, should I opt for the 6:30 or 8 pm showing of Fantasmic (and for what time would I need to book our ressie) on 11/12??? Any additional help would be appreciated!
