Best Restaurant for Thanksgiving meal in WDW

OK - Needless to say I'm in serious WDW withdrawal and it's only been a year since my last trip. Our next trip isn't until Thanksgiving 2016, but in true Mousejunkie fashion I'm already trying to make plans. In your opinion - for those who have experienced it - where's your favorite place to dine for your Thanksgiving meal? And...... GO!

With out a doubt, Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. Served family style, all the salad, bread, turkey(and other meats), mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy you want. And, if you have room, warm apple filled cake with ice cream! It is very popular so try to make reservations as soon as possible.

Couldn't agree with this more. We've had two Christmas meals there and it is a great setting for a family holiday meal!

If you are not planing on entering the parks on Thanksgiving, or would like a non-park restaurant, we LOVED our Thanksgiving meal at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club.

They had all the traditional goodies that you could want or hope for plus some of their regular seafood menu and carving stations.

I would also say Liberty Tree Tavern if you are going to be in MK that day. If you won't be, then I would suggest one of the resort restaurants. We always eat at 1900 Park Fare. The food is great and you get the traditional Thanksgiving food as well as the normal dinner food as well. My kids have outgrown the characters but we still enjoy the food so continue to eat here. We always go to WDW for Thanksgiving and will be there again this year.

If outside the parks we ate at narcoossee's one year and it was great. Other year we ate at California grill,chick we love, but it was the worse dinner we ever had at Disney. Cold food. Non regular staff who rushed us. Food wasn't even good. We were told because it was a set menu it was a different staff. Maybe that was why. But it sucked.c this year we will most likely eat at yacht club steakhouse since it has become like home to us and we know so much of the staff.

Just about every restaurant will have something to offer for Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving. We've eaten in our villa, dined at Yacht Club Galley (buffet), Olivia's, Yacht Club Convention Center (buffet many years ago).

We ate at 50's Prime Time Cafe a few years ago and it was pretty good. We figured it would feel like a home cooked holiday meal from the past and we were right. We'll be there again this year and I'm interested to hear more thoughts on this by following this thread.

We had an absolutely horrid thanksgiving dinner, for 17 people, at Jiko (and we are Jiko fans). The traditional TG meal for lunch at Flame Tree BBQ was MUCH better.

If your party is mostly adults, consider the Brown Derby (order the Cobb salad, which is the original recipe and unlike anything you've been served anywhere else, and order the grapefruit cake). With kids, I agree with other posters that Liberty Tree Tavern themes well for Thanksgiving and serves a nice traditional dinner.

We ate at The Garden Grill in Epcot......Mickey, Pluto Chip and Dale were there. Was one of the best character dinners we ever had. Multiple visits from the Charaters and the Thanksgiving dinner was awesome.....an added bonus is that the restaurant spins (slowly) it takes 75 mins to go around......Would do this again

Do they serve traditional Thanksgiving dinner or did they stick to their original menu? I know turkey is already on the menu but did they add the stuffing, etc.? I am thinking of maybe switching from our usual 1900 PF. Other than the turkey, my family isn't crazy about stuffing and pumpkin pie, etc. which is why I like 1900 because we can get other food there as well as the traditional Thanksgiving food.

Yes they serve the traditional thanksgiving meals all the way to the cranberry sauce. Mashed patatos and gravy. Fish. Mac and cheese. Bread and butter ect. We were looking for the traditional meal and we got it. But once again the chacters stole the show. Had to beat them away with a stick (not really) but that's how often they came around. And the place was packed

I know a lot of the managers of the signature restaurants. Chris is how I understand it. Certain places on holidays don't have the regular staff both serving and cooking. Hence the different menu. Hence the lower quality food at times. What I was told was ask what place has thier regular staff for the holiday. They will let u know. They will also have the regular menu with some possible additions. If it's a set menu and totally diff then ur on ur own. So that's whawe do now. The night at cal grill was a skeleton staff and found out the food was even brought in hence the bad experience. Narcoossee's the one thanksgiving was regular menu with one addition and the manager said regular staff. Same with steakhouse. When we go in June im going to talk with who I know and see what's up for the holiday and plan accordingly.

Are you absolutely set on a "traditional" Thanksgiving meal? Why not try something completely different for a change. In a "different" location than home for the holiday, why not have something very different? Asian food, Mexican, steak, etc, something you wouldn't normally have on Thanksgiving. Might be a memory maker.

MY suggestion, contact Whole Foods or Publix, Buy dinner, Take it back to villa, heat and eat.

(Note this really is only a good idea if you are in a one or two bedroom)

We did Whispering Canyon one year for Thanksgiving-we really enjoyed it!

Last year we had Thanksgiving dinner with the 10 of us at Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge. This is usually our favorite place to eat when we stay there but were disappointed in this special feast which cost a lot more than normal due to it being the Turkey day special. The food was simple not good and we were so rushed by the servers to finish and free up the table. I will not try it again for holiday special meals. The lodge is quite nice and remains one of our favorite places to stay..smjj
