Hubby and I will be going to Disney World in March and we'll be celebrating his 30th birthday. We'd like to go to a nice Disney restaurant for this birthday, in the evening, but can't really make up my mind. On the one hand Victoria & Albert would be great, but it would be stretching our budget a bit. So we were thinking of the California Grill. Does anyone have any recommendations? Don't take this the wrong way, but we would prefer a place that isn't too full of children (I know it's Disney and there's no escaping them, but it would be nice to have it a bit quieter... a romantic dinner if at all possible).
Thanks!

Just my opinion of course, but I took my girlfriend to Flying Fish for her 30th. It was fairly late (after 9pm) and it was nice and quiet and we got exemplary service. I haven't eaten at California Grille so I can't compare, but our experience at FF was outstanding!

Thank you! I will have a look at it and put it on the list to consider

Victoria and Alberts is great, but it is really expensive, especially if you are doing wine with your meal.

I just took my DH to California Grill for his thirty-mumble mumble birthday and we had a great time! There were some kids (not tons) but they were well behaved. We were able to watch Wishes and enjoy some great food and wine, and excellent service.

For another suggestion, what about Bistro de Paris in the France pavillion at Epcot? (that's the upstairs restuarant). There is no kids menu there, and there is a dress code. Personally, I would go with California Grill. Have fun!

CG would be fine. There WILL be kids for sure, and that open kitchen does not really lend itself to a "quiet" dinner. But if you can get seated in the "wine room", it's relativelty peaceful there.
Citricos is another possibility?? Relatively adult friendly and quiet by WDW standards. Not open Monday or Tuesdays though--

DD and I took dh to Concourse for his birthday in February. It was awful. I was so disappointed. The service was lousey, the meal was just okay and we were seated right next to Chef Mickey's so my dd had trouble eating (too much to look at).

Also, I preordered a cake for him. The cake was terrible. You could tell they had pulled it from the freezer and it had just barely defrosted.

I agree with UncleR about CG.

Bistro de Paris is the most intimate and romantic place I've eaten at in WDW (outside of V&A's). The service, food and atmosphere were all great.

Flying Fish is great too. Not as intimate as Bistro but food and service were great.

I haven't been to Citricos so can't comment on that.

just celebrated my 50th with 5 girlfriends and loved our evening at CG. How can you beat walking out on the balcony to watch WISHES from high atop the hotel? Bar was lively and fun, too, and our meal was delicious! I liked the fact that it was a little noisy...had no trouble hearing everything going on at our table but also did not feel like we couldn't be a bit rowdy ourselves and not disturb others. Children did not bother us one bit...nor were we bothered by guests who were were wearing shorts and tennis shoes (you know why I added that if you read these posts regularly!!!)Perfect evening from start to finish. (Oh, and our food was great, too) Enjoy!
