My dd6 will be turning 7 while we are in Disney next year and would like to celebrate during a meal. what would be a good choice? I was thinking character meal, but not sure if I should just do a special dessert at a regular (non character) meal. do any go above and beyond? thanks!

I don't have enough experience to know if some restaurants are better than others about acknowledging special occasions. Two things, though- I would think that character-meal characters would be sure to make a fuss if they knew. My niece received lots of birthday hugs at Chef Mickey's. (Though my favorite moment was when I told Minnie I wouldn't mind if she wanted to give my husband a Valentine's Day kiss.) Anyway, the other thing we did is order one of the chocolate slipper desserts with a happy birthday message to be there for her. (This was my niece's eighth birthday.)

is there a restaurant that you expect She will Find particularly fun? Or do any of the character meals include a favorite character of hers?

We ate at Cinderella's Royal Table for our honeymoon and they gave us the best seat in the house! We had a perfect view out the window of Fantasyland.

they gave us the best seat in the house!

1) Very nice, and very lucky.
2) Character meals have several guests everyday with "special events".
3) They cannot all be accommodated.
4) And there are only so many "best seats".
5) To us, character meals are the worst places for celebrations. There are too many people and too much noise. Pick and other TS eatery and order a "Mickey" podium cake.

Just wanted to see what others had experienced. I think she would be more into the getting a special dessert at the end of a meal.
I was watching videos of 50s prime time café, they seem to really make a show of it. I know we really want to go to the t rex restaurant also so maybe do it there as its a theme I think she will get a kick out of. thanks for sharing!

There is no restaurant that always does something special. It really depends on how busy they are, the CM, etc. That said, at Biergarten they will sing Happy Birthday and mention names during each set. You just have to let them know you are celebrating a birthday when you check in.

We like to order special custom cakes at Disney and are doing so next week for my son's 9th and my 40th. But we picked our location based on where we could order the cakes we wanted. Yes, I'm that much of a cake fanatic, lol. The cake offerings vary by location. They all have the podium cakes and all Disney owned and operated restaurants now have the Mickey Head Celebration Cake which is pretty cool. MK restaurants have a special dessert at each restaurant you can preorder. You can look through the cake thread for more info on those options.

If your daughter has favorite characters or a favorite restaurant or meal you could just pick something that fits that as well. It will be fun no matter what you go with no doubt.

We are taking our 9 yo niece in March so we will see where they seat us next time. I didn't feel like CRT was loud at all. It was very quiet IMO
