Best Restaurant for 1st Anniversary Dinner?

I was just wondering what everyone's opinions are on what would be the best pick for an Anniversary Dinner! We will be in WDW from 9/17 - 9/22, and will be celebrating our Anniversary on Sunday, 9/20.

I want to order a cake for the occasion (surprise!), and have determined from the Cake thread, that eating at the GF would enable me to take advantage of their bakery.

I will eat practically anything, however; my DH is a vegetarian, and eats mostly starches (no veggies...yeah...I know :headache:) which kind of throws a wrench at some places, even though I'm aware that we can call and have a special dish made.

So, what do you think? We wouldn't be against a character meal (we are pretty silly people) and don't exactly care a great deal about a ultra-romantic setting (although it would be nice)

My vote for a special occassion is always Victoria and Alberts. Pricey but worth it....and they have a vegetarian menu. And great wine.

Ditto!!
But second to that, probably any of the Signature restaurants are a good choice. Pick what sounds good to you, then call them and ask what they can do Vegetarian. I'm sure they'd be glad to work with you.

A few years ago, DP tried to plan a surprise birthday dinner for me at Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. He had them make sure they had salmon as that's the one fish I usually eat. Then I turned around and orderd the swordfish that night! Oh well, it was still a good dinner and a pleasant surprise. Gotta love him for trying!!

Last year I ordered a cake from CaliGrill for my mother's 75th birthday. It was very good, and I ordered it large enough to take the rest back to our villa to snack on the rest of the week!!

I'm sure if you call and explain it's your Anniversary, they'll work with you to plan both a nice meal, and a delicious dessert! Congratulations! And enjoy!

I forgot to mention that we are on the DDP, so V&A isn't an option :sad1:

I'm eyeing up Narcoossee's at the moment, and I'm happy to see that CRT has Cheese Tortellini.

Sorry to hear that V&A is not an option (I was also going to recommend it)

California Grill is on the DP and has many Vegetarian options and a great view of the fireworks.

For very good pasta you might want to consider Tutto Italia in EPCOT

Have a great time!:goodvibes

We did Narcoossee's last year for our wedding and we'll be back there in 2 1/2 weeks for our 1st anniversary dinner:lovestruc It's romantic, but not overly stuffy or quiet - we think it's a good mix. One of our wedding guests was a vegan and the chef came out to talk with her and figure out what to make for her. She is big into veggies, so she had a mostly veggie entree but she said it was one of if not the best vegan meals she's ever had. Because of that I can highly recommend trying Narcoossee's! Plus then you can get a GF cake delivered.
