I just got back from Saratoga Springs. It is a fantastic resort for a jog.

My runs changed everyday, but I absolutely loved running from the resort through Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island/West Side and back.

The loop started just before the bridge between The Springs and Congress Park. I stayed on the sidewalk/path as it ran along the water. My runs started around 8am, so by the time I got to the Marketplace, the sun was at my back. There are very few people there at that time of morning. In fact, one day the only person I saw in West Side was another runner. We gave eachother:thumbsup2.

After West Side, I kept on the path and it joins up with the water again. You run past the putting greens and then turn as soon as you go over the bridge. This leads you out to the SSR boat launch and then you keep going up the street and it will put you where you started, just before the bridge before Congress Park.

Millage for that loop is 2.05 miles! (I know I thought it would be longer too!)

So what is your favorite resort for running?

Awesome! I haven't run at Disney yet, but I will be training for a half during our upcoming trip. We are staying at AOA this time, which is supposed to have a "jogging" trail. I plan on running that trail and going over the bridge to POP and running the paths there also. I am really looking forward to it!

Wow, that sounds like an awesome place to run. I like the YC/BC/BW around the lake and I even head to International Gateway and around that loop (Where the tram used to go) and then back. I don't know how long it is but I make 6 laps (3 one way and then 3 the other). My right knee can only take some many times up and down a hill and if I want to enjoy the parks, I have to stop at 6.

Your run sounds real pleasant. We've run all the non-DVC resorts' paths and our favorite is running from WL through FW and back. We also like the Crescent Lake to DHS route, but FW is are favorite.

We run almost every morning around 0645. We start at the sidewalk between WL and VWL and run on the concrete path to FW, past the ponies (the only spot that's wood chips) and over to the sidewalk. You'll have to cross the street once because the sidewalk ends and continues on the other side. From there, you can run all around FW and back over to the path to WL. After we get back to the end of that path, near WL, we run back down the path again and I sometimes veer off onto the paths in the woods that run parallel with Bay Lake, right behind WL/VWL. It's usually too buggy though because they don't spray there. But it's never buggy on the concrete paths. Our route is only about 4.5 - 5 miles, but heck, we're on vacation.

Be on the lookout for lots of wildlife though. Last week we encountered armadillo, deer, snakes, squirrels (ponies were behind a fence:laughing:). It's always an adventure in the wilderness!

When I stayed at BW for a convention a few years back, I loved running around the board walk. I had to start my run sometime after 10:00 PM, though, so I didn't get funny looks dodging people while running through the crowds. I was always worried that someone might think I had done some shoplifting and I was running to get away.

As I recall, one lap around the lake was about 1/3 of a mile.

I'm from Utah so the humidity was absolutely killing me. I was there in June and I think I probably lost 10 pounds just from the amount of water I lost through sweat. Not a pretty sight!

You're so right about the humidity. In August, we frequently run on a treadmill at the health club. By 0700, it's already pretty awful. Spring break was just so pleasant. It was very low humidity and in the low 60's so we enjoyed the great outdoors. We've even lived in SoFL and we never got used to the humidity in the summer.

I like the loop around the boardwalk. I'm not very adventurous so I loop around it 4 times and I think it's close to a 5k. Best scenery I've had on any of my non vacation runs!!

Running along the river at POR and POFQ is really nice too! I have seen people running around the World Showcase a few times. I'm guessing they ran over from one of the Epcot resorts did a loop around WS then back to their resort.

I'm from the UK, so when I go to WDW, I have major jetlag, in the best way. (wake at 5am, RD every morning). I tend to stay at Epcot resorts, so doing the BW circuit is ideal. The route up to DHS is also wonderful at dawn. Apart from being watched by large amounts of rabbits. If you've ever seen 'The Birds', you'll know what I mean. Spooky.

We love the Epcot resort area. If you do the loop around the Boardwalk that is 8/10 of a mile. I go around the Boardwalk once and then down to the Studios and back which totals 2 miles. We have also gone around the Boardwalk, down to the Studios and on the way back go up and over the canal and follow the sidewalk past the S/D around to the Yacht Club entrance and past that to the BC entrance. We will be running there again in June and Aug.

There is a great path from SSR to OKW. I've run that to the front of OKW and back to SSR before. That was nice. I've tried running through the THV. It's short and not ideal unless you do it really early in the morning as there is NO room for you and the car..

I've also run through FW before and that is a great place to run.

Great information!

My DH is a runner and I just had to show him this post. :thumbsup2

He says his fave place to run is also around the Boardwalk. We've stayed twice at BC/YC and returning in October (and he lobbied to stay there partly due to the running, I know, crazy!). He usually does about 5 loops around from YC/BC to Boardwalk, then to DHS, then back to Baordwalk/Swan/Dolphin. On the way to DHS, you can also get on World Drive - there's sidewalks all the way to the fire station.

My favorite is definitely the route around Crescent Lake at Boardwalk, around 5:30 in the morning....very nice.

I also like the Wilderness Lodge trails.

Crescent Lake at 5:30am is :cloud9: Peaceful and tranquil and the perfect time for running.:thumbsup2

Awesome answers! We will be at the Boardwalk in August so I am looking so forward to that run.

Thanks for the great website links.

With hearing all the responses about Wilderness Lodge, I want to stay there too!

Can you get into World Showcase before park opening from International Gateway? Now that would be cool!

Nope. Only if you are heading to Future World once that part opens and you have a ticket. But you can't wander around the World Showcase.
