I often push through the day and when I get back to my room, I nearly fall on my face with hunger and fatigue. I like to have quick access to good food. I'm not talking about chips and bananas and stuff that you can get at the resort market. Room service is often important to me. At VDH and VGC, they have room service and they also have good food onsite between quick service and table service.

Now that I am looking to expand my horizons and stay in DVC villas away from California, I am seeing that it's actually unusual for DVC resorts to have room service. I can live without, but I need good food options that I can get to quickly from my room. Which resorts have you stayed at that had a very short walk to good food onsite? I am specifically thinking of only walking a block or two, so more like lobby bar, but it doesn't have to be in the lobby. Seems like some of the resorts have a very long walk to the main building.

I like the Boardwalk. The pizza window is open until midnight, and the pizza isn't bad at all. We also enjoy the deli - but that closes a bit earlier, either 9 or 10 if I recall. Another favorite is the Wilderness lodge. The food at the outside bar is really good.

How late?

BWV has pizza window til midnight, BCV quickservice/store open til 11pm, Primo open til 11pm but limited menu.

Personally I would just have had something earlier or would get groceries to keep in the room.

Most resorts you will find it a challenge after 10pm and for sure 11pm imo.

FOrget the Deluxe resorts for QS - they are all mediocre at best. Our favorites are AoA, POFQ and POR.

If you are staying DVC you really have to stock the room for breakfast and after-park hours. You do have the full kitchen which is nice. We've spent far too much time and money in the markets at the DVC resorts but that's really your best bet on-property at the DVCs.

TBH, I don’t like the pizza at BWI but many people do and it is open late. There is also Broadway Deli with several sandwiches, both hot and cold, and various snacks and desserts.
Cake Bake Shop has an extensive takeout menu via the bakery.

Vgf room service. Worked great for us when we needed food because family was coming over, but we were decorating and didn't have time to go to a restaurant. If you're not opposed to outside food, Uber Eats Will deliver you just have to go to the lobby to pick it up when they arrive, front desk won't handle hot food. Pizza delivery from flippers and papa johns is available. Uber Eats is also great for water bottle delivery and groceries and they will hold that at the lobby and deliver to room for a nominal fee

Grand Floridian has room service

GF is literally the only WDW hotel with room service. WDW rolls up the carpet at 10-11. If GF wasn’t my vibe I’d try BCV/BWV and maybe utilize Swolphin dining (many places open until 11pm). It’s a pretty walk around the lake area and not bad. (And if the weather sucks it’s a <5 min Uber- that the other thing to remember. Rideshares are available 24/7 and cheap when not fireworks surging. If you have an ADR you can enter the resort to be dropped off. You can be picked up anywhere regardless of ADR.) If you don’t go the DVC route and stay Swolphin they have a free shuttle between Dolphin-Swan-Swan Reserve which is lovely in bad weather! And Swolphin offers room service until midnight. Might be something to consider, there isn’t really a DL equivalent, but if the prices are like a Disney Deluxe or higher you’re probably looking at a convention and should stay away (they have dynamic pricing).

Ideally I’d do a split stay. Being a pre-Covid DL vet I can attest to these parks and hotels being totally different beasts and I really think that’s the best way to get a taste of both options. Especially if you’re considering anything out East for a longer term relationship 😉 Disney will transfer your luggage for free (may not arrive until 5-6pm at your next resort) so you could try a MK area/ EP area split and see what’s more your jam. You can even transfer to/from Swolphin & Disney.
