Need some options of which resort has the best shopping options? I know the parks fairly well but haven't resort hopped enough to know which one has the best variety of shopping. I assume the shopping reflects the type of resort too???

From my experience the larger resorts have more of a selection. Like POR store is a lot larger than POFQ. GF has a big store(they are broken up into a couple different...smaller store downstairs offers drinks/pens/books/small souveniers while the one upstairs has more clothes and the spa line. It really depends on the resort but I would say the bigger the resort the bigger store...at least I think so.

i haven't shopped at Poly, so i cannot answer for that resort.

the Contemporary has nice shops. i don't know that a lot of their merchandise isn't something that you can find elsewhere.

the Grand Floridian has a few different stores. I love the Basin store with the bath stuff. i would say they probably have the most variety.

the Boardwalk area has a few shops with items you cannot find elsewhere. but, i haven't shopped there a lot, so my memory could be wrong!

AKL has an amazing store. It's big and has everything from African themed, to Disney themed, to snacks & drinks.

I also like the stores at the Poly.

My favorite resort store is Everything POP. They have the biggest variety and have a really large store. :)

Next up, and in my order of preference:

AKL
Poly
WL
BWI
and CR

When we stay on the monorail loop, I'll take an afternoon and just hit all of the resorts on the loop to go shopping. :cutie:

My favorite resorts to shop are (in order):

Animal Kingdom Lodge (HUGE shop, lots of different stuff)
Grand Floridian (a bunch of small shops, including the downstairs small general merch one, a separate mens and womens clothing/accessories shop, basin, and the upstairs large general merch one)
Wilderness Lodge (like the merch, love the lobby)
Poly (some interesting different things in their main shop, plus I like to browse the Wyland gallery - which is also at BWI)

To me the Contemp, BWI and BC/YC shops seemed similar and similar to say, the Emporium but a smaller scale. However - the Boardwalk area also has a bakery, small kiosks on the actual boardwalk, the ESPN Zone with a shop, and the aforementioned Wyland Gallery.

I remember enjoying the CSR shop, but not being blown away by it.
Never shopped at Pop, All Stars, or POR/POFQ or CBR.

There is an actual thread about resort gift shops. You can check that out for some visuals too.

I love to shop in WDW! :woohoo:

Oh this is a good thread, I hadnt thought about it before but now I want to check out different resort shops.

Most of my favorites are on the monorail loop; I've been known to spend an afternoon working my way through the shops GF, Poly and CR.

GF has a nice selection of women's resort wear, and Basin for bath and body products.

Poly has an even better (IMO) selection of resort wear, and some other interesting items.

The shops at CR have mostly Disney merchandise, but the selection is excellent. I'd have to say it's got the largest, most varied selection of any resort I've visited.

Outside of the monorail loop, but nearby, is the Mercantile at WL. A smallish shop, but some nice wilderness-themed merchandise.

And of course, the shop at AKL is excellent. African-themed items and plenty of Disney merchandise.

I think the Contemporary has the best stores for shopping among all of the WDW Resorts. Plus if you are a collector of WDW pins their Fantasia Store is the only store among the Resorts that sells all types of limited edition pins that include Annual Pass, DVC member pins, and limited edition pins of WDW attractions or holidays.

I haven't met a Disney shop I haven't liked! :) They're all great.

Like others have mentioned, I love the Basin store in the Grand Floridian and the Fantasia shop in the Contemporary.

One I like that I don't see mentioned is the shop in the Wilderness Lodge that has the great Disney totem pole. Also like the store in the Beach Club that has a snack counter. Been there while waiting to be seated in the Cape May Cafe.

Actually, that's when I've been in many Disney shops. I browse them while waiting for our table at dinner.

I have actually visited most of the moderate and all of the deluxe resort shops (have not been to the value resort shops). My favorites in order of preference are CR, AKL and POR.

Thanks for all the options!! I've been to DD to shop but wasn't sure I'd make it this trip. I have several meals planned at the hotels so I will now be able to shop while I wait.
THANKS!:wizard:

The best Resorts to shop in my opinion is the Grand Floirdian, the Polynesian, and Animal Kingdom Lodge they have nice things to shop there my favorite would have to be the Basin store in the Grand Floridian with all the bath relaxing stuff enjoy your next vacation and hope this helps :yay:

I have been to every single resort gift shop and they are all nice. I do think the most lackluster shops though are the All Stars. They are a bit small. Everything Pop is much nicer imho, but I hate the way you have to walk through it to get to the food court. It makes it more crowded and noisy. But its a great shop.

My favorites are at: POR, CSR, CR, GF and AKL. I also like the shops on the Boardwalk.

If I was going to only shop at one resort, I'd pick GF. My dd and I rode the boat over to GF in October, shopped, sat in the lobby and relaxed and listened to the music and had a nice lunch at Gasparilla Grill with a great view of the castle. It was wonderful. We had a sort of disappointing morning at MK due to insane crowds and were bummed, but I came up with that idea and it turned out to be one of our most favorite Disney afternoons of all our trips!
