We're planning our meals for our trip in February, and I was wondering what you think are the best resort restaurants and if you think any are worth a special trip to the resort just for the restaurant. We're staying at Polynesian, if that figures into your answer on the second part (is it worth a special trip). Thanks!

California Grill at Contemporary-Worth the trip!
One of our favs-Ohana is at Poly.
Have fun!:thumbsup2

Ohana at the Poly, but you are already there. How about the
Yachtsman steak house at the Beach Club?

We are making trips to Ohana at the Poly, and for tea at the Grand Floridian.

How about Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL? It was so worth the trip last year, that we are staying to WL this year.

I agree - Cali Grill is great but so is Narcoosees at GF

I really like Kona (not need to travel for you :goodvibes ), Whispering Canyon and Artist Point at WL (easy to get to from Poly, just transfer at MK or take a taxis, which can't be very expensive), California Grill at CR (even easier to get to, it's on the same monorail loop as the Poly) and Boma and Jiko at AKL (more difficult to get to: on the way there either transfer at MK or AK, best to go there on an evening when MK has EMH, you can use MK as a transfer point on the way back even if it's late).

Generally my impression is that restaurants at the deluxe resorts are more special and worth the trip than those at the moderates. Also, the trip would not just be for eating but for exploring new resorts, take your time to look at the gift shops, maybe have a drink and at AKL: watch the animals!

We make a special trip to 'Ohana at the Poly and Spoodles at the Boardwalk. We did dinner at Whispering Cafe on our last trip, but I wouldn't make a special trip there again. Hoop De Doo at Fort Wilderness is worth the special trip, but not for the food- the show is the terrific thing there! We haven't been yet, but many rave about Boma and Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Lodge itself is something to see, and the restaurants get very good reviews.

narcoosees at grand floridian - worth the trip for the almond crusted cheesecake alone!

I would recommend Jiko or Boma at AKL, and you can walk around the savannah viewing areas while you are there!

Whispering Canyon at the WL for lunch after an early morning in MK. Very nice boat ride from MK to WL. They can also accomodate any dietary needs with 48 hours adavance notice.

Late breakfast at 1900 Park Fair in the GF after an early moring in MK. Take the monorail - nice ride. Please go to the omlet station and have the omlet of your dreams made to order. They can also accomodate any dietary needs with 48 hours adavance notice.

Chef Mickeys at CR for an early dinner after a day at EPCOT or MK - again ride the monorail to the CR. The ice cream sudae dessert bar (very large selection) is great for kids and adults. They can also accomodate any dietary needs with 48 hours adavance notice.

I would say Boma is absolutely worth the trip to AKL. In fact, AKL itself is worth the trip to AKL! :cheer2:

Have a great time!!!

Boma at AKL
Whispering Canyon at WL
Narcoossee's at GF
Boatwright's at POR
Big River Grill at BWI

All worth the trip :lovestruc

Jiko - AKL
Boma - AKL
Victoria & Albert's - Grand Floridian
Beaches & Cream - Beach Club (Great lunch and short walk from Epcot - not worth trekking to Beach Club JUST for the sandwiches)

If you are an adventurous eater - definitely Boma. AKL itself is worth taking the time to go see. I am not a buffet fan, but the Boma buffet is amazing.

I agree with California Grill at the Contemporary -- one of the best meals we had at WDW and easy to get to .

Boma @ AKL
California Grill @ Contemporary
Narcoosee@ Grand Floridian

And, dont forget about Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club/Yacht club for a Kitchen Sink! That is definately worth a special trip!

Jiko is a must for a "special' Dinner.

Boma great for a family dinner.

Personally I avoid Cal Grill. -Nice view but it's also very touristy in the sense families go there for the view and fireworks, as a result it's loud and crowded. Narcoss. is better for a fireworks view and "special" dinner.

Breakfast-Whispering Canyon Cafe. Lots of fun for the kids. (read up on inside jokes)

Big River- Great. I'm sure it's busy too but it also seems like a forotten place when it comes to must places to eat. If your lucky you can get a table out on the Boardwalk and have a great view.

Kona-very nice.

Beaches and Cream- worth going to just for the ice cream. take the whole family. Don't even look at the menu and ask for "the Kitchen Sink".
You won't be disapointed.
