we are trying to finalize our trip with our then 23 month old daughter.
Any suggestions for the best place to stay? We are thinking Art of Animation. Originally going with the Ariel kind room. But now wondering if the Nemo suite is worth it, or if we should look at a different report all together?

The theme of AoA is as toddler friendly as it gets. That's where we will be staying in 2017 with our kids who will be 6,5,3, and 18 months! The suites will cost more than the regular room so that comes down to your budget and preferences. The two bathrooms may save time in the morning if dad wants to shower while mom and daughter and doing hair...haha. From what I hear, the walk to the Little Mermaid (Ariel) rooms is pretty long compared to the suites.

As for a different resort, again it comes down to preferences. If it's in the budget, the monorail resorts are nice for the convenience to the MK (where I'm guessing you'll spend most of your time with a toddler). Otherwise just take a look at what is available. There are some nice options but keep in mind transportation and how far you will be walking at the end of the day to get to your room.

I think the best resorts with a toddler would be the monorail resorts, but Beach Club comes in close with their amazing pool area with the sandy bottom, my toddlers just loved it. With toddlers we typically plan on more down time at the resort, so going deluxe is worth it.

If you can swing it financially, I agree with kcpinwdw. The delux hotels are great with little ones. I like the fact that they have balconies / patios so when your child sleeps you have a place to go. I also really like having a lot of food options at the hotel since you do spend more time at the hotels with toddlers.

That being said, I think your little one will have fun at any resort. I have found that the zero depth entry pools are particularly great with toddlers. I am not sure if the AOA has that but I would certainly look in to it.

AoA has zero entry pool, and great water play area. In a suite your daughter would be in a separate room where as in a regular room you would all be in same room. The Nemo suites are amazing though. The beach club does not have the great over the top Disney feel - your DD will like that about AoA. BC has convenience to Epcot and DHS. Somewhere like the Poly is on monorail and is convenient for MK, I think it has zero entry. CBR is a moderate that has zero entry and great pirate splash area and is very bright and colorful place but not as over the top as AoA.

I would choose AoA it's one of our favorite places. The mermaid room would be fine but is a longish walk, take a stroller.

I think it depends on the toddler. Ours does not sleep well if he is in the same room as us, so a suite style is better all around. We did not do a monorail resort and had no problem, but we are also not mid-day breakers (which again depends on your toddler). We stayed at a treehouse villa at Saratoga Springs and it was awesome but we were with extended family and needed the space. The pool area there was really toddler friendly though and DS loved sleeping in a treehouse!

I recommend a Boardwalk area or MK area resort strongly if financially feasible. Being able to walk to parks/monorail is a huge advantage.

If its financially fees-able I would stay at a monorail resort. We use to stay off site when my oldest was younger, but when I had my second son we planned a trip for when he was only 8 months old and stayed at the contemporary. Best decision we ever made...it was so easy to just hop on the monorail or walk back to the resort for a break in the afternoon. This year we stayed at the Grand Floridian, we just can imagine staying anywhere but a monorail resort until my youngest is out of a stroller, lol. I see how difficult it is for some parents to hold onto their kids and fold down the strollers for the bus transports and honestly my oldest son likes taking the bus so if we need to take a bus anywhere I will go with him on the bus and my hubby will take my toddler in the car. Its just easier. Now when my youngest is out of the stroller I already have resorts picked out that I want to stay at (Beach Club, bc I just love the resort and the pool area & Saratoga Springs bc my family really loves horses and I think my kids would get a kick out of a horse themed disney resort, lol). Anyways we aren't much for value resorts bc I like the feel of the deluxe resorts better, but if you can't swing it financially I think I would more than likely choose AoA bc it is very appealing and probably the nicest of the value resorts.

thank you for all the responses. we would love to do a deluxe resort but at this point not sure if it is feasible. we love the idea of being able to put her down somewhere in a separate room to nap. but not sure if i feel comfortable having her in a separate room at night while we all sleep. lots to think about!

You can go on youtube and look up Art of Animation suite room tour. There are several videos that show the layout of the suites. If you feel the bed in the other room is too far, you could use the Murphy bed. If you sleep with the door open, it is within eye sight of the bed you would be using and probably isn't much farther away than the 2nd bed in a standard room.
