We are looking to stay at OKW or SSR in a studio the first week of March 2014. We're not doing any parks, but golfing at LBV daily and doing other things in Orlando. I'm looking for the best resort with: Close Parking, the best pool, nice place to get an evening cocktail and other resort amenites that we can enjoy. Dining is not a big deal since we will be mostly dining outside WDW. Which do you think is our best option?

Those two resorts are as similar as they get...parking right outside your building, several buildings spread over the property, comparable feature pools with several quiet pools spread throughout the resort, etc. Since you want to golf at LBV SSR may be a better choice, since the clubhouse is there. Then again, you can't beat the Gurgling Suitcase at OKW for a nice adult-beverage.

Personally, I would go with the one that has the theming that most appeals to you. SSR is themed to Saratoga, NY and the horse racing for which it is famous. OKW is themed, obviously, to the Florida Keys.

Have a great trip!

I agree go with the theme that appeals to you. I, however, LOVED Animal Kingdom Villas. Peaceful, looking at animals, so much to do, loved the African safari theme, good food. That would be my choice.

I would stay at OKW. Studio rooms are bigger. You are close to SSR to go to the golf course and the dining there. Pools at OKW are nice. Have both quiet pools and a big main pool. My choice would be OKW.

We always stay at AKL when we aren't doing parks. Love the animals, the pool, parking is right below you and covered. They have great lounges--Victoria Falls and a great pool bar at Kidani. Restaurants on site are fab, room service, and amazing cultural programmes and activities.

I would think any. Depends on theme you would like and what you might plan to do on site.. If going off site a lot then OKW or SSR are best

OKW, SSR or AKV have good bars - but OKW is outside (more pool bar)

for a studio might go with AKV - Jambo House - it has a really nice bar - now you might be walking alot to get to your room.

so maybe SSR - now love OKW it is my favorite - but it definitely lacks an inside nice lounge. - they expanded Oliva's a few years ago and did away with it.

but would be a short walk to your room. although OKW rooms did seem closer to the parking lot than SSR.

you might go next door to POR and get their live performance -

If you are golfing a lot, well the 19th hole is at SSR, so there's that... ;)

I would pick SSR, sounds like you might have more time in the unit than a 'normal' park trip. SSR has a sofa along with the queen bed, OKW has 2 queens. I find it more relaxing to sit on a sofa than on the edge of a bed.
Both have close parking. SSR has elevators, at OKW you may need to walk up 1 or 2 flights. SSR units are typically quieter than OKW. Both floor to floor and room to room. Also LBV Club is located at SSR.
Have a great trip.

If it were only those 2 that you choose from then I would suggest SSR in either Paddock or SPrings...

But I would definitely choose AKV for a non park trip...You'll feel like you're in a totally different place w/ all the Disney feel..

Both Jambo & Kidani are nice just a lil different, that depends on taste. And from what I remember Kidani has parking underneath & closer to the bldgs.

Also you're not very far from Rt 192 , where there are plenty of restaurants.

AKV= Paradise..:confused3:thumbsup2

I'd pick a resort that has easy access to I-4 since you will be off premise most of the time. OKW,SSR BW and BC.

And then I'd pick the one most convenient for car access, OKW and SSR BC, since you can park right at your building. And then pick the theming you'd like.

I would chose Saratoga Springs. Like the sofa and queen bed there rather than the 2 queens at OKW. Plus Downtown Disney is at your doorstep with many fun choices for entertainment. Raglan Road is a lot of fun - ask to be seated near the stage.

I would pick SSR walking to DTD go with congress park. Also it is ideal for nights. There is an ice cream shop tons if dining, and views in congress park is beautiful.

Just curious...What about the construction going on with DTD and stuff.. Will that hamper the views and walks over to DTD and stuff.:confused3

SSR by far would be my choice. You can park close to your room. LBV golf course is right there. The Turf Club has a nice bar area. There is also a bar at the Rock Springs pool, Paddock pool and the Grandstand pool. You can rent bikes at SSR and bike over to OKW. There is a paved path between the two resorts!

SSR is a very relaxing resort. Of course its my home resort too! If you have to do laundry they have a huge laundry room by the Rock Springs pool.

OKW as someone else mentioned does not have a couch in the studios just a table and two chairs. Have to take the stairs to your room.

The walkway over to DTD marketplace is closed because of construction and will be closed till 2016. The other one had been closed too but I think it has reopened. Boat from the Turf Club to DTD would be another option

I cannot imagine them removing the walk over.. as far a views.. Could be a problem.. but it wouldn't change my opinion. I love SSR, and love walking over to a margarita bar.. :rotfl2:

If SSR or OKW are not the choice then I would agree with the AKV and BCV suggestions. AKV would be my first choice just for the very nice environment and the lounges. BCV does also have the ESPN Club as yet another spot for a cocktail and snacks along with the various resort lounges there and the Swan and Dolphin. I guess the variety there is broader and you can visit the other hotels easily.

I have to say though that the lounge at the Beach Club is one of the more vanilla lounges I have seen oven the decor of the rest of the resort. It just lacks 'something' and the lighting is very bright for a lounge. It has a kind of cafeteria feel to me.

If it was ME doing a resort only stay, I'd choose AKV/Kidani for the animal viewing. If, however, I was golfing as you are, I'd definitely choose either SSR or OKW with no preference one over the other. Some like the bed/ sofa combo at SSR, but I much prefer the more personal feeling of OKW. I also feel like OKW is easier in and out access when you have a car. Since both are on the golf course and both are easy access to DTD, I feel that part is a wash.

Are you both golfing at LBV every day, or is it ever just DH golfing, and you in the villa? Because I don't know about SSR, but at OKW, DH has often waved at me, or even stopped to say "Hello" when he's golfed at LBV. We love OKW for when he golfs-then he can watch other golfers later and say "When I played this hole...."
