Best resort for no parks???

Not much difference in those two. I would choose OKW because I like the grounds better and the rooms are larger. A nice boat ride to DTD from either for a late afternoon cocktail.:thumbsup2

We are looking to stay at OKW or SSR in a studio

Based on what you are looking for, I think SSR fits those things best. It's on the golf course, has close parking, has a bar area in the Turf Club indoors, and I personally like the pull out sofa better than the 2 beds.

Good luck deciding!

I think SSR and OKW has the best parking. With SSR, not only do you have golf course and poolside bars, but you have a nice walk or boatride to DTD, where you can enjoy a variety of drinking establishments.

We stayed at OKW and SSR this August and loved the location of both for offsite and DTD etc but we much preferred SSR it just felt more modern OKW felt very old to us. We didn't dislike OKW but we vastly preferred SSR.

Those are true of OKW too.

Bottom line is this...You can't go wrong with either, or any WDW resort for that matter....Remember this is Disney, How bad can bad really be here..LoL

Have fun deciding..:confused3

:goodvibes Thanks for the replies . My DS12 will be the one golfing and taking daily lessons at LBV. Is it possible to request a studio with a view of the course??? If my DS is not playing golf he will be happy to watch others playing.

Not sure if there are many studios with golf views at SSR, but many (if not most) of them at OKW will be directly on the golf course with golf views. The only OKW studios that have no golf view are those in the canal buildings and those buildings who's back's face toward Epcot.

I think the sofa beds are uncomfortable, so having two queen beds at OKW would make the difference for me. We just did a mostly no park trip to OKW and we loved it! I really enjoyed that I didn't need ressies for Olivia's but the food was amazing.

We've stayed countless times at both SSR and OKW and love them both. When I started reading through this thread, I was leaning SSR for you, thinking it was an adult golf trip. But learning it's your 12 yo on the course, I'm full on OKW.

Imagine sitting on your patio/balcony and watching him play through. Plus, you'll want the 2 queens. OKW will feel like an oasis when you return at the end of the day. SSR may feel a bit like more of the same.

We are looking to stay at OKW or SSR in a studio the first week of March 2014. We're not doing any parks, but golfing at LBV daily and doing other things in Orlando. I'm looking for the best resort with: Close Parking, the best pool, nice place to get an evening cocktail and other resort amenites that we can enjoy. Dining is not a big deal since we will be mostly dining outside WDW. Which do you think is our best option?

Beach Club. We did this a couple years ago in the summer and Stormalong Bay kept our days mostly entertained. Also, you can walk to the Boardwalk for some entertainment. That would be my #1 choice for no parks vacation

Thanks everyone!! We have decided to stay at OKW :cool1: It's going to be such a different trip with no parks but with all of the changes being made at WDW we decided to take a break from the parks. We will do the no parks trip and a trip to HHI next year. We're looking forward to seeing other things around Orlando and still enjoying some Disney hospitality at OKW.
