Best resort for just walking around

OP - because of Sabbath, what transportation options are available to you? Is it just walking? Can you take a bus/boat if someone else is driving it?

I'd also recommend the POR resorts - POR is large and has some beautiful landscaping. The pool are is also large and has lots of chairs for lounging. The pool bar area also has some tables off to the side which are also great for relaxing and taking in the environment. The think I like best is that you can also walk to it's sister property, POFQ, which has a heavy New Orleans theme. Both resorts are beautiful.

I suggest you stay at any one of the hotels in Hotel Plaza Blvd and walk around Disney Springs (walking distance from any hotel on Hotel Plaza Blvd.) not only is it cheaper, but you can get suites for the price of a regular hotel room at a value resort in Disney. Your kids will like their own space. There are plenty of dining options within walking distance not only in Disney Springs, but on rte 535 there any many chain restaurants (walking distance from Hotel Plaza Blvd).

Whatever you decide, have a great trip!
I hadn't thought about that option! I'll look into it, thanks!

Just walking. I asked about the public transportation because it comes and goes on a set schedule, I'm not personally affecting the operation of the vehicle, but was told that wouldn't be okay.

I know this question sounds strange, but which resort do you recommend for staying at (we'll be there two nights post cruise w/o park tickets, it will be the sabbath for us) and all we can really do is walk around? Are the All-stars the most fun to walk around and see the theming? I'm thinking we may be able to do pin-trading, my kids loved doing that last time, so a gift shop or two would be good too. My other option is renting an off-site condo but I worry that will be boring to be stuck in for 24 hours. Thank you for your opinion!
Why would you be stuck in an offsite condo for 24 hours? There are so many other things to do in the area other than Disney. If you rent a condo in a resort, there will be all kinds of other things to do.

Got it. Then I agree with DISNEY1975, a hotel at Disney Springs would probably work out best. You can walk to Disney Springs where there's lots to see, nice walking and great people watching! :)

I think the person you spoke with might have misunderstood you. The buses/boats/monorails don't have a set schedule in the sense that there's a 2:45 PM boat to Disney Springs. The boats run continuously, traveling back and forth between POR and DS. You don't need to make a reservation like you would for an airport shuttle, and you don't need to request a pickup like you would for a taxi or Uber.

So, you're not personally affecting the operation of the vehicle. The buses, boats and monorails will make the same trip in the same way at the same time whether or not you're on it. The only transportation I can think of that you would be personally affecting in that manner would be the Minnie Van (a Disney-fied Lyft vehicle, like a taxi), or a boat that you rent or charter.

no riding/driving, no spending any form of money, no swimming, no turning on or off anything powered...

OP's best options are SSR, Holiday Inn, Hilton across from DS...

So thorough! Thank you for all of the links! And yes, sunset is quite early then so there won't be a ton of time for shopping and activities.

How many floors are the Disney Springs hotels? OP, would you need elevators that stop automatically on every floor? Or are stairs OK?I think that PO resorts are only 3 stories high, so only a maximum of 2 flights to consider, if a problem.

I agree with the PP who recommended the Disney springs resorts. They’re walking distance to DS and they’re cheaper too. We frequently celebrate Chanukah in Disney since we always go the 2 weeks following thanksgiving, and we love it. We take Shabbat as our resort day. Enjoy your trip!
