Best resort for a large group

My family is thinking about planning a trip to WDW in 2022. There will potentially be 7 adults and 2 kids (both age 4), what are good resort options for us? We are very budget conscious, and would prefer a value resort. Since we will have to split between more than one room, how do I book this on Disney's website? I didn't see a way to book more than one room for the same trip, but I may be overlooking something. I've never booked a trip for a larger group before, so any tips are appreciated!

If you want more than one room it’s better to call. There is no way on the website to get more than one room without starting over (essentially making more than one reservation). I believe the reason for this is that connecting rooms and room location requests are nothing more than that: requests. I’m guessing they don’t allow someone to book 2 rooms at the same time to avoid issues with this.

I would call in to make this reservation and they can accommodate you. The website limits your ability to book more than one room for the same time period -- I guess some people would book additional rooms because they can't make up their mind?

They never guarantee connecting rooms but they can get you all in the same block of rooms. I would definitely follow up with a call to the resort about 5 days before you arrive. All of the All Stars deal with group bookings regularly, and even when we have done competition trips they have been able to get all of the rooms for our team in the same area at ASMu.

As PP's have noted, the best way to book multiple rooms is to call so the reservations can be linked and you can place any requests on all of the reservations at the same time (for example: connecting rooms or rooms close to each other). For your group, I would recommend 3 rooms at Pop (only 2 could possibly connect however) or 2 family suites at Art of Animation (these would not connect but you can guarantee being in the same building when picking which themed rooms you would like). With three Pop rooms, you will get 6 beds and 3 bathrooms. With the AoA suites, you would get a total of 6 beds and four bathrooms plus a kitchenette in each suite. Both resorts have access to the Skyliner to take you to EP and DHS making them, IMHO, far more convenient than the All-Star resorts.

I would recommend staying at the Swan/Dolphin with such a large group. The rooms are the same price as a value resort, but much nicer/bigger. Also, you'll be within walking distance of 2 parks (Epcot and Hollywood Studios) which would make it easier to run back to the room for a break, and tour in different styles for different age groups.

I would also consider a travel agent. They can let you know the best options for your travel party and make sure the proper requests are noted in your reservation to maximize the chances of you being in connecting rooms etc. Depending on how many rooms you want, you may even want to consider renting DVC points for a 2 bedroom villa. They can sleep your entire party in one room but deposits and cancellations are significantly less flexible than booking cash stays with Disney.

Keep in mind that The Swan and Dolphin has resort fees on top of the room rate. The Values are going to be the best $$ for your budget. We've done All Stars and Pop Century. If you get 3 rooms, you can request "connecting rooms and have an adjoining room for the 3rd room. room. For eg. room 50 and 51 connect for inside access, and room 52's door is in the same alcove as 51 for easy access to room 51.

I would for sure book with an agent. I would suggest dreams unlimited as I have used them many times and are awesome. They will take care of every detail with just an email. The best part it does not cost anything extra then booking direct with Disney. They will look for discounts for you and make suggestions and do all the work. I can not say enough about the them.
