Hello - I am looking for help to decide which resort for a honeymoon in October, 8 nights!! Not GF or Poly, too expensive!

If you have ruled out the GF and Poly I would look at the Yacht Club, or maybe the AKL. IMHO the Yacht club has a lot of adult entertainment around it. You have The Disney Boardwalk steps away, you have access to EPCOT, and EPCOT has the best and most romantic restaraunts on Disney property.

If you want a private, secluded hotel then I would choose the AKL. It is away from most Disney attractions. It is quiet and they have a great pool.

Which ever you choose, good luck and have a great Honeymoon.
ADP :D

I would suggest AKL or WL. Both are very quiet, intimate resorts, but cheaper than the Poly or GF. AKL has a great spa, plus the views of the animals are amazing (even if you get a standard room, there are plenty of viewing areas). There's a firepit to sit around (though if you go in the summer I guess that wouldn't matter) and they have great activities, like night viewing of animals, etc. Also, both restaurants there are very good and the pool is really well themed. We're spending part of our honeymoon there since after we stayed there once I fell in love with the resort.

I've never stayed at the WL, though I want to, but have visited and it's beautiful as well. I've heard great things about the restaurants, the outside grounds are great, plus you have the boatride to MK. Although you can see the monorail and MK from parts of the resort, you really feel isolated and like you're in the woods.

If they're still more money than you can spend, for moderates I would suggest POFQ if it will be open when you're planning to go. We planned to stay there in October but it was closed for rehab, but we visited in Jan and Feb and it looked like a great resort. Much smaller than the other mods so nothing was far away from the pool, buses, food court, etc. POR is supposed to be very nice too, but I've only seen it from the bus so I can't say much about it.

Congrats and have a great honeymoon!

Cali, great pictures of the WL. Looks like your room was above where we stayed 1/11 to 1/18/04. We were in room 3151.

Those suggested resorts would be beautiful, but if you need to stick to a tighter budget- you may want to try CBR.

I have spent time at the Caribean Beach Resort and it is very tropical and quite beautiful. But my reasoning for selecting it as a reply to your post is that throughout different posts on these boards I see that people have stayed during their Honeymoon at this resort.

I'd recommend the following:

1. Wilderness Lodge - deluxe resort without the $$$ of the monorail resorts, plus you're VERY close to the MK and the boat ride to and from that park is really relaxing.

2. Animal Kingdom Lodge - this deluxe is very secluded with some fantastic viewing spots of the animals, plus Jiko (which I've never eaten at but hear it's WONDERFUL!) and Victoria Falls Lounge which has such a beautiful ambiance.

3. Caribbean Beach - this moderate has rooms that are almost as big as the rooms at WL and there's a great "island" feel like you're really away from it all.

Have you considered renting points from a DVC member and getting one bedroom at any of the Home Away from Home resorts? The one bedroom rooms have a master bedroom with a king size bed and a jacuzzi tub. The HAFH resorts include:

Old Key West
Villas at Wilderness Lodge
Boardwalk Villas
Saratoga Springs
Beach Club Villas

It's worth looking in to. Most DVCers rent their points for $9-10 per point. This can be a savings if you want more 'posh' accomodations (like a one bedroom villa) without the high price tag. You can also do a split stay. Maybe the first few nights at a mod, then the rest at a deluxe or home away from home. Just a thought!

Enjoy your honeymoon!!! We honeymooned in WDW and it was fantastic!!!

We stayed at the YC for our honeymoon and loved it. In Nov. 2002 we were at the WL and loved that one too. For a honeymoon I'd vote Yacht Club. The pool, the atmosphere, the Boardwalk at night. Just perfect! :) Worth every penny for a honeymoon, IMHO. But if you want to keep costs down I'd go with the WL.

One thing to keep in mind is that there might be a chance for some discount codes available for your stay. With the discount codes in Nov 2002 we got the WL for $110/night and we could have gotten the YC for 179/night. (for our honeymoon in 1999, we got the YC for $169/night- so it doesn't look like the prices have increased much)

I would suggest booking a room at any resort and watch for the discounts. If memory serves me correctly the discount codes for October might come out in the May/June time frame.

We just got back for POR and loved it!!! We actually stopped by the GF on this trip and I would say the general theming of the two resorts are very similar, just the amenities are different. And for someone who likes that theming, but doesn't like the expense of the GF, POR was perfect for us! We stayed in room 8211 at Acadian House and were close to the bus stop, just a short walk from the main buildings, and had a view of the courtyard and fountain. We really enjoyed the boat ride to DTD and I'm sure would have enjoyed the carriage ride had we decided to go on one. We had a great trip, and didn't break the bank by choosing a deluxe!!

we got married in disney world at the grand floridian

for the first part of our honeymoon we stayed 4 nights at the GF, while it was a very lovely resort it just wasnt us -felt kinda like fooo-foo people there and not as friendly, the staff was great though. then we moved to WL

saved a bundle got to stay for 9 nights and just has a romantic feeling the people there are down to earth and friendly. the atmoshpere is rustic but you do get pampered so if you and furture hubby like the outdoor i recommend Wl highly.

also i stayed for 4 nights at the CArribean beach and absolutely loved it it is so nice over there. my family and guest mostly stayed there and the banana cabana is great lovely walks to take, and you can see the epcot fireworks from the lake, many private pools and lots of carribean feel

good luck on choosing and have a great honeymoon,

on tip instead of staying at GF the whole trip we went to WL because we could spend lesss and take that money and do all the fun things we never thought we would do , and ate at every restaurant we could think of, and souvenor picture or gift we bought it was a great time youll have a blas t.

also we just returned from akl and wl for 2 weeks in DEC because we wanted to use our passes again and got a great deal we stayed WL concierge for 8 nights (very nice) and 4 nights AKL sunset savannah( nice resort just not our atmosphere.
