Best resort for a 2 year old?

In my travels to Disney with the toddler and under set- we have enjoyed out of all our stays- the Grand Floridian. The rooms are spacious for the cribs, pack and play. The resort is nice and compact. The splash pad and pools are VVV toddler friendly. The location is close to the parks and on the monorail - so easy to get back to the room for naps. Also, this the theming is very understated- it is a nice break and quiet so you can destiumlate yourself from all the crazy. It has a nice balcony so in the evening you can sit outside and relax while the child sleeps and you can always watch the Electric Water pageant and fireworks from the beach areas and docks. It really is perfect.

When the kids were babies, we were always at a monorail resort. Spent most time at MK and strollers are easy with the monorail. Busses, crowds, long days, strollers, and toddlers are a recipe for disaster.

You ask for someone with a 2 yo opinion. We are in the same boat, trying to figure it out, but I do have a lot more experience with staying at a lot different resorts. I personally like the budget hotels, but we can't be comfortable in double beds, and we stay so long everyone has bad backs after 15 days, so for shorter trips and if you like budget hotels that would be a good child friendly resort, I think POP or Arts would be the best.

I have stayed POR with a 2year old, 10 years ago. My biggest problem is what we are thinking this time very hard about, because in Jan we are going with our new 21 month old granddaughter. Our problem with POR was the bus system and carriages, and trying to do it when your tired and it is crowded and such. You said you have a car but this was a big problem for us, and for that reason if we went with no car in a moderate we would pick POFQ, I think the bus system works better especially with a stroller.

Then you have deluxe, our favorite is WL and we thought long and hard about this and actually had it booked and changed it within hours. Poly for us is going to be the answer. We have a car but that does not help much to MK where we will spend most of the trip since none of the other parks have enough for her to go on to make it a whole day. So the monorail to and from is the big push. We will still have a car for Epcot, HS and AK. WL is cheaper, but Poly was the cheapest of the monorail resorts. We just do standard room, a two year old won't remember what is outside. All of the deluxe now have more than one pool, and they all have little splash pools for tots. Poly and contemporary also was high on our list since she will go to bed around 8 so we will still be able to go out and see fireworks, grab food easily since there is lots to choose from in these resorts.

DVC points is also an option, we are members but saving our points this time for a big family vacation next year. We again would have liked WL resort at BRV, it is so peaceful there. We thought a 1bedroom with a kitchen might be helpful since two years olds like to snack, also giving us space so she can sleep at 8 and we can still watch tv. I still think this would be a very very good option and hope we are not making a mistake when we went with poly. If you go DVC thru Disney or renting points, I would suggest WL that has 2 CCV or BRV, and a 1 or 2 bedroom and you will all,be together, or 2 studios but that won't give a full kitchen, but would give a kitchenette. I personally don't like BLT, poly does not have anything but studios, and grand Floridian is way to hard to get into, so none of the monorail would work. I do love BWV. I'm not keen on BCV. And I love AKV, especially jumbo house but do not recommend it for a 2 year old because they play drums all day and night in the lobby. I can't say about kadani since I have not stayed there. All of the deluxe and I believe all of the resorts no matter what price range have playgrounds. I did not mention SSS or OKW, I don't no much about them, they are very big and every time I have been the bus system is very very difficult, but I don't know anything else.

Hope that helps. As I say we chooses poly for the ease in and out of MK, with a tired sleepy baby and grandma. Getting back fast and easy to me is worth the extra money. We also have to get back fast an easy for naps and breaks. So for us poly this trip seems to be the best choice and since poly DVC does not have anything but studios we got a room with two queen beds and a daybed in the resort.
