My FI has had only one request for our upcoming trip and that is to watch the 49er v New Orleans game on 9/20. I had already planned for that evening to watch MSEP and Wishes, as its the only day during our trip they're scheduled. He would still like to catch at least part of the game. Does the Poly or Contemporary have any decent bars that we could watch the remainder of the game?

*We'll be relying on Disney transportation, and figured those resorts would be our best bet since they're closer to MK than PORFQ.

thanks!

Touringplans.com just had an article on their blog about the best locations to watch. Just hit the pull down menu, click on blogs. Should be on the first page that comes up, or the 2nd, as it was just this week. Good luck finding a Hawks or Niners game on the east coast.

I don't know what an FI is. I'm assuming that's because it is a young people and am figuring you're young. Most young guys seem to like ESPN, so I'll go with the ESPN place on the Boardwalk as "best", but it's a longer commute than the monorail places.

The Poly and Contemporary have what I think are the two most popular in-the-hotel bars. Most of the others are empty or at least not crowded when I pass. If I had to pick one of the two, I'd go to the Poly.

Good luck. Have fun! :)

I have had great experiences watching sporting events at the Territory Lounge at the Wilderness lodge. They have a few large tv's a the service is absolutely fabulous. It is a very short boat ride from the MK to the Wilderness lodge

I have also watched a game at Mizners in the Grand Floridian. Service was great, but the live music can be a little distracting when you are watching a game.

Last time we stayed at Boardwalk the hubbies went to watch Monday Night football at ESPN restaurant. They had a great time. Might be worth the trek over. You could take the bus to Boardwalk from MK or monorail to Epcot and walk through the Worldshowcase entrance to Boardwalk. If its a Monday Night game you should have no problem finding in on somewhere. We just got lucky that the Patriots were on then. Enjoy!

Hands down go to the ESPN club!!! We LOVE it there :)
With little research I would also say ESPN, since a key component of their business is to display a range of games occurring across the nation. They purchase a license to be able show all these games along with the services involved. I do not think you could count of Disney to go to the level of effort (pay provider for rights to show) to ensure you would be able to see your specific game on the limited Disney television services they provide at the resorts.

Definitely go with ESPN Club for Monday Night Football

I'm giving another thumbs up for the ESPN club.

Personally, my winter sport is Figure Skating (probably not shown in the ESPN club)....but we often stay at Boardwalk in the fall. When we walk by the ESPN club you see multiple BIG TV's and hear people laughing and screaming <--when appropriate.

It sounds like they are having a ball!

Can you imagine how much fun it would be if they turned all the TV's to figure skating...now THAT's a sport!! Ok ok.....couldn't resisit.

New York Shark Bar always has sports on, lots of tv's, and good atmosphere for games, a lot of Americans go there for football. Hideaway also shows the games I believe.Liberty Tap Room for really good food and football. They are at 79th and Kings Highway. This is pretty close to where you are staying as well.

While ESPN is a great place to watch the game, he may have a problem getting in. Since they don't take reservations, he may have to stand outside for some time. He can just watch it in the room since he'd have ESPN there anyway. Since the parade is at 8pm and Wishes is at 9pm he won't be seeing them anyway.

I won't disagree with everyone who suggested ESPN, because it probably is the best place on property to watch the game, between the number of TVs and the atmosphere during Monday Night Football. BUT... I noticed you wanted to stick close to MK and traveling to the Boardwalk via Disney transportation may eat up what little game time you have left after MNSSHP. Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian has a big screen TV in the lounge area and on numerous occasions I've seen football (or some other sporting event) on the TV. I'm sure on a Monday night the game will be on. You could probably even stop in before you hit the MK to check with the bartender. But, I think the Poly will be a lot quicker for you than the Boardwalk.

I didn't think I had so many choices to choose from, thank you all for your thoughtful suggestions. We're probably going to stick with the Tambu lounge, I don't like football but a good drink will definitely make it tolerable.

I would recommend the ESPN Club, although should you want to try another location then I would suggest the Outer Rim which is located on the 4th floor at the Contemporary.

I'll probally either watch the November 15th game between my Eagles against McNabb and the Redskins at, if not the ESPN club, at the bar at Jambo House @ Animal Kingdom Lodge
