I would recommend booking the room separate and purchasing the $86 seven day passes off of the Universal website. It has been my experience that packages usually end up costing more. I would think you could get a decent room rate for the beginning of December. It has also been my experience that
AAA rates offer the lowest rates but you must call Universal to get AAA rates. Their phone # is 1-888-273-1311. Sometimes there are super saver rates but I never manage to snag them and I think they may be higher than AAA anyway. I would reserve a room now at AAA (assuming the rate is available). There is no penalty for a cancellation of a room only reservation until a few days out from your reservation (I think 5 days) so if there is a better rate that comes along, you can change your reservation. The current ticket promotion for $86 is an incredible deal and it is unknown how long they will run that promotion so if you need tickets, I would buy them now if you are able to do so. Booking with AAA? I have always booked directly with Universal at the phone number above. They provide the same AAA rates as going directly through AAA. Universal will send you an email confirmation of your reservation. Make sure you request it.
Loews Card? You can go to Loews.com and sign up for the card which gives you a few benefits. Probably the best benefit for a new member is the welcome gift if you booked a qualifying rate (AAA is a qualifying rate). There is a thread in this forum that has a wonderful summary of the Loews benefits which will be helpful for you to read. My other advice is to keep reading these boards and asking questions.
