Hi, Nick
As you probably know, Easter is one of the busiest times to visit so you need a plan! Have you been before and where will you be staying - onsite or off?
Each day a nominated Disney park opens early for onsite guests (forgive me if you already know this). I'm convinced that the best strategy for beating the crowds, whenever you visit, is to avoid these days. Even if you are staying onsite and want to take advantage of this perk, conventional widsom is that it is sensible to hop to a different park once the "Early Entry" park starts to get busy around mid-morning. The current schedule is:
Magic Kingdom - Sun, Thu
Epcot - Wed
MGM - Tue, Sat
Animal Kingdom - Mon, Fri
Other tried and tested "guide book" strategies to beat the crowds at busy times are to arrive around 30 minutes before park opening and head to the more popular rides early in the day; and to take full advantage of FASTPASS where it's available (Express Pass at Universal and IoA). Passes for the newer attractions (such as Mission: Space at Epcot and Shrek at US) tend to go very quickly and often run out by lunchtime. This is also true of the most popular attractions such as Test Track.
Whilst you do need a plan to make the most of your trip, do make sure you take time to enjoy it and soak it all up. You could be forgiven for thinking that the "blitz it" plans in some of the guide books are events in themselves rather than a means to an end!
