The title says it all really...

We've booked DDP for our trip next year and while I'm confident in all that I've read about table service venues being really understanding about allergies etc., looking at the QS/CS menus, I'm thinking this may not be as easy.

Would be be better to upgrade to DDDP? Just think that if we did this, we'd spend all our time going from restaurant to restaurant rather than attraction to attraction...

My DS11 has done gluten-free eating at WDW on 3 trips. We find G/F options everywhere, including both CS and TS locations. It is a bit easier at a TS restaurant because the chef will come out to talk to you and make dishes to suit your needs or point out the G/F options on the buffets.

Here's what works for us at the CS locations: we arrive at off-times when the restaurant really has time to help us (opening is best) and ask to speak to a manager about G/F meals. They (Disney folks) have fallen all over themselves to provide my son with what he needs, and his meals often look much, much better than the rest of the group's meals! The best locations have been: Cosmic Ray's in the MK (1/2 rotisserie chicken, potatoes, and green beans), Flame Tree BBQ in AK, Backlot Express in DHS, and Sunshine Seasons in Epcot.

Don't forget about Babycakes for G/F desserts in DD! What a treat for a kid who rarely gets special desserts that taste as delicious as everyone else's.

You are probably aware of this already, but you can check out the WDW webpage for special dietary needs. I contacted Disney by email before each of our trips, and they sent me a list of G/F foods that were available at CS locations.

I really don't think it is necessary to upgrade to the deluxe plan just to accommodate G/F; we always do DDP and it works great for us.

Thanks for that, I was beginning to get quite concerned when I was looking at menus.

I'll make our table service ADR's and email WDW for some pointers as well as taking your recommendations on board.:thumbsup2

My son is on a GF diet and a large percentage of our meals while at Disney are counter service. We've never had a problem with ordering GF. I will say tho the best thing to do when you go up to order is to get your GF meal ordered first. In most cases a manager will come out to talk to you and handle making the meal. Some places also have a book at the register with a list of safe foods. With our ADRs we tell them when booking then mention it when we check in. The chef will come to the table and walk you through a buffet or tell you whats available. At buffets the chef will usually also offer to make separate items specifically for you GF diner.

Liberty Inn (the american adventure) in Epcot and ABC Commissary in HS were both very good about my brothers celiacs disease... At both places the manager came out, showed him the ingredients list, and personally made him his meal in a separate kitchen area! Hope this helps!

We went to Port Orleans French Quarter during Marathon weekend. My friend had not been to Disney since her diagnosis of celiac. She was very unsure but I told her not to worry, I had read wonderful things about how accomadating Disney was. We stepped up to the counter and explained that we needed to know what was safe for her to eat. The chef came out and asked what she would like. He went through several choices and she decided that pancakes sounded wonderful. He had mentioned that if she came back they had macaroni and cheese. Well by the time we left, it was lunchtime and we ordered mac & cheese to take back to the room for a snack after she rested. She hadn't had mac & cheese in 2 years and literally licked the container clean. We went back the next morning for gf waffles. Don't worry, just ask!
