Looking to come the Disney World resort for 7 days taking the RV and staying there at ther camp grounds

We are looking to come the first week in June and I had a few questions

Is the first of June a good time to bring kids to Disney World, ages 9 and 12

What is the best premium loop to request for a 33ft RV

I dont have a tow vehicle, but I am going to want to go to universal studios one of the days there (I dont plan on moving the RV) whats the best way to get to another park, also if we wanted to go out to eat off property or hit a grocerie store (the picture someone posted of a can of cheese whiz for 6.50 from the general store made me choke:sad2:)

Are the meal plans any good, or will you regret getting them

also whats the deal with the mickey head globes for post light, and the green mickey head?

thanks for the info, great web site!!

We use to always go the first week of June when kids were in school, as soon as school ended we hit the road. It as good time to go as the crowds get larger as the month proceeds

The last trip we stayed in the 900 Loop, right across from Meadow's area, 800 loop is great also.

We now drive off-site a lot to eat out but we also do some Disney resturants, dont forget to take several cases of water as it will be hot in June. We always take one bottle per person every day and refill at parks..

We went the first week of June this past summer. It gets hot so be prepared if you aren't used to hot weather.

Meal plans are ok but I found that when we stay at The Fort, it's just easier and cheaper to eat at our camper. They do have a grocery delivery company that delivers groceries for a fee. Also, with meals plans you are tied more to doing things around eating than relaxing and enjoying yourself.

We stayed in the 700 loop, it's the closest premium loop to the boat to magic kingdom. Our camper is 33ft also and we had no problems getting into a spot.

Green Mickey ears denote a fellow Dis'er and are a way to welcome others and possibly meet that person or family. The lamp posts are just things that are nice to display on your campsite.

Definately go as soon as you can, when your kids get out.

If you stock enough up, you should not have to go to one of the trading posts except for bread, etc.

Usually we eat most of our meals out if we are staying just one week. Too much to do & see and too little time to do it all in to worry with cooking, even prepared meals. Also, dining out at some of the table service retaurants is part of the fun. As far as if the DDP is worth it, if you are planning on eating out 2 meals a day, then yes. Of course, like everything Disney, it has a price tag to go with it. You can make your dining ressies 180 days out from the first day of your stay, so mark it on your calendar.

Which premium loop? :confused3 Everyone has a preference. 900 & 1000 is right across from the Meadow Trading Post & the pool/campfire program behind that. The 1400 loop is right next to the campfire program and the pool just beyond that.

There is no transportion (other than private, taxi, maybe Mears transport) to get to Universal or a regular grocery store. You could see about getting a rental car for a couple of days, but that would cost a few bucks.

Green Mickey denotes DIS board members.

The Mickey globe lights are for fun. We love Mickey!!:lovestruc

We love loop 800. The outer loops (816 - 845) have lots of area in the back. These sites face the dog walk and have a small creek, great area for the kids to play , fish and have fun.

Another option for going to Universal would be a rental car for a day or so. Alamo and Enterprise will both come to the campground to pick you up. I don't know which one would be cheapest, but you would have more freedom as to when you come and go. This would also give you transportation to go to a grocery store if you run short on anything...food, laundry products, etc. We usually rent for a day or two sometime during our visit and do whatever running around we need to do, then we relax at the Fort the rest of the time. (BTW, we use the Purex laundry sheets at the Fort. They serve in both the washer and dryer and taks up very little space.)

The best way to get ot the Disney parks is by WDW busses, boats, and monorail. They are there for you, make frequent trips, and are free. There are also busses that run just inside the Fort that can get you to any of the internal amenities. We don't do meal plans because we don't want to be tied to a schedule, and we a do quick cold breakfast, much of our evening cooking at the MH, and a sandwich/salad meal in whatever park we are in at lunch.

The Mickey lights are homemade (various instructions are elsewhere in this forum). Some use different colored lightbulbs for different seasons. The lime Green Mickey Heads have become a way of identifying members of this camping forum and promote impromptu greetings and gatherings among new friends, or as you will find, they are called Fiends around here. There are many different designs of the green heads from a simple computer printout to elaborate painted wood signage. There are also some instruction for these identifiers elsewhere on the forum.

Explore the forum and enjoy.
