We are staying in London a few days before our cruise. All of the Premier Inns seem to get great reviews. I'm looking for one close to a few attractions we can walk to and convenient to a tube station.

We will have a 4 year old and grandparents with us.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

The one at London county hall is popular with cruisers.

On my cruises, many coming to London have stayed there.

It's close to the London Eye on southbank, and opposite the house of Paliament.

It's on the tube:- Northern, Bakerloo, Jubilee, at Waterloo, and Jubilee at Southwark.

You are next to:-
Thames riverboat cruises.
Waterloo, for Windsor, and Hampton court.
Waterloo east for Dover trains.
A walk takes you to Shakespeares globe on the southbank.
Over Westminster bridge, you can walk to Whitehall, Westminster, Buckingham palace, ( pre book now) , traflager square.
Tube wise and bus wise easy reach of all of central London.

I consider this to be a very safe part of London.

Purple ballon bottom right shows location, with central and west London , left and above.

We stayed at the Premier Inn, St. Pancras after our cruise ended last year and stayed 4 nights. It's a newer hotel, awesome location and great restaurant inside the hotel as well. It was about a 5 minute walk to the St. Pancras/Kings Cross station and we never felt unsafe there. It also gets great reviews and we were pleased, especially for the price and size of the room.

Good advice! the only other one I would think with has a really good location is Covent Garden and I think its quite new (although the tube station is exit only, there are others very close by) but I think it gets booked up fast, especially family rooms.
Personally I don't like the location of Holborn and Euston very much for a family trip (or solo!) but that is just my opinion.
If you want interconnecting rooms you can call the hotel and check if they have them available, you won't be able to see this on the website.

What are the unsafe parts of London?

I wouldn't like to use the word, unsafe, but, words less safe, and in particular at night. Living in London there are areas I avoid at night unless I really have to go there.

Areas I would say for tourists to " be more careful" are:-
Brixton.
Kilburn.
Willesden.
Harlesden.
Kings Cross.
Soho.

Covent Garden is good for theatres, the London transport museum, movies, and restaurants. The tube is now entry and exit, the works have ended. But it is elevators only and gets very busy.
Holborn is a five minute walk. Leicester Square three minutes.

A great summary and nearly 100% agree, I think some of the " nightlife" in the Kings Cross area may be of a concern to some families. During the day it's very safe, but at night, whilst it has improved, - as a Londoner I avoid Kings Cross.

Thank you for the more up to date info on Covent Garden! I haven't been down since March, that is good to know.

Last summer a dismember recommended the Premier Inn Waterloo for our family of four! We loved it! It was convenient from the Waterloo station ... we took the tube from the airport and walked to our hotel. It is actually a block from the Premier Inn County Hall. It is super convenient to all of the tourist destinations ... Westminster Bridge, London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben are all just a short walk. The Westminster Tube station was very convenient. We also used the Westminster Pier to take a river cruise to Greenwich to "see" the Prime Meridian. On the cruise we had a great view of many tourist attractions like the Mayflower, Globe Theater, London Bridge, Tower Bridge... There is a stop that allows you to get off at the Tower Bridge and Tower of London. There are restaurants and entertainment between the Westminster and Jubilee Bridges. The rooms are small and quaint but just what we needed for a good nights' sleep. The air conditioning worked well and there is a great breakfast buffet. We have two children... ages 9 and 6 and this was a great location for us to see the sights and enjoy all of London!
Across the Jubilee Bridge was the Sherlock Holmes Pub... we walked to it for dinner and drinks one night and the walk back to the hotel at 10 pm was absolutely delightful with the city lit up and the sound of Big Ben. We could have enjoyed the view and sounds all night... and we never felt unsecure!
I don't recall exactly why we chose Waterloo over County Hall... but it may have been something about air conditioning...

I booked Premier Inn aldgate city of London. Its a new hotel. Not as good a location as the Waterloo area, but its walking distance to London tower., and not too far from the other stuff by underground. I saved 300.00 dollars for the two night choosing this vs Waterloo. We booked this cruise late. Prices might be better booking early.

Bummer, I have the Premier Inn - Kings Cross booked for three nights in July. Guess we will just have to be cautious....

It's ok, just be careful at night, and close your eyes to some of the nighttime activities in the area, by day it's fine. I walk there during the day quite often, no issues, it's just that area st night has a reputation which then attracts more looking for that.

Aldgate is good, near the Tower, it's in the city, so the area will be quiet at weekends. Easy to get to with the tube,
Aldgate- circle and metropolitan.
Aldgate East, District, and Hammersmith and city.
Liverpool Street main line and central a two minute walk.
